Students are required to participate in an online meeting with their instructor to receive access to course, date TBD. All coursework will be completed online. Students will receive an email from the teacher with a link to an instructional podcast in June. All coursework must be completed by July 29.
Students will learn about nutrition, exercise, substance abuse prevention, managing emotions and stress, handling crisis, heart disease and cancer, human sexuality, HIV/AIDS, and CPR techniques. They will research health issues and discuss national and world concerns.
Students will incorporate the Five Components of Fitness (Cardio-Respiratory Endurance, Muscle Strength, Muscle Endurance, Flexibility) into their personal fitness program and track five fitness hours per week. Personal fitness programs are developed from student’s personal goals and interests, which can include weight and resistance training.
Students will acquire knowledge so that they can make informed decisions on a lifetime fitness program and the importance of maintaining a level of fitness. Students are required to take one semester of Life Fitness to meet a portion of their Physical Education graduation requirement. The course includes weight training, cardiovascular training, and lectures. This class must be taken is a prerequisite to Advanced Fitness, Advanced Weights & Conditioning and Sports Conditioning.
