PARENT NOTIFICATION REGARDING STUDENT ELIGIBILITY FOR LAP SERVICES
Dear Parent or Guardian:
The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) is a state-funded program that provides supplemental academic services for elementary students who are below grade-level standard in English language arts (ELA) and/or mathematics. Services focus on accelerating student growth to make progress toward grade level during the period of time in which they are provided services. LAP emphasizes research-based best practices designed to increase student achievement.
Your student will continue to receive instruction in the classroom, and they are enrolled in the following LAP supplemental service(s):
LAP Reading
LAP Math
NOTE: NO ACTION ON YOUR PART IS NEEDED! SERVICES ARE PROVIDED AT NO COST DURING SCHOOL HOURS.
Trained LAP staff in Northshore elementary schools support students who are developing the skills needed to meet standards in reading and/or math. These supplemental services may look different depending on your student’s grade level and specific learning needs. It may be in the form of in-class support with identified students, with small groups of students in another space, or with individuals under the direction of a certificated teacher. Northshore provides training for LAP staff in the use of effective teaching techniques, reading, writing, math content, and assessment.
We believe your student will benefit from the additional, personalized instruction provided by LAP services. Students who reach grade standard may be exited from LAP services at any time during the school year.
