2020-2021 Screening and Assessment
The Accelerated Models and Programs Department is working on the 2020-2021 testing plan for students with highly capable needs.
The data review process for the Kindergarten holistic watch list has concluded for this year.
Students in First Grade
Hybrid students in grade 1 will be universally screened for highly capable services after spring break at their current school. Remote students in grade 1 will be universally screened for highly capable services after spring break at the school in which they were enrolled winter quarter. Every school will have a designated two week time period between spring break and the end of school. The Accelerated Models and Programs Department will email families with first grade students to let them know the two week period of time their school will participate in screening and assessments. Please note that we will NOT have time to accommodate vacations or absences this year until after school is out. If you wish to participate in highly capable screening and assessment, please plan to be at school during the weeks your student’s school participates in testing. Please direct any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.

The first part of highly capable testing is to screen students using the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT3). In order to take this screener, students need to have a district issued device so we can push out the latest update.
Step 1: If you do not have a district issued device, you will need to request one and pick it up. To request a district device, please fill out this form. https://form.jotform.com/202085825509053. Please check the box on this form stating you will be using this device for Highly Capable Screening and Assessment.
Step 2: Once you have completed the form, you will be contacted you to let you know when you may pick up your district device. Most schools have one day a week they are able to provide a time for device pick up, thus, the sooner you are able to complete the jotform, the sooner we can let you know your options for pick up times at your school. If you are unable to pick up a device from your school at any of the listed dates and times, please email email@example.com for alternative pickup/delivery options.
When screening and assessment concludes, you may opt to keep your device or you may return it to your school during a materials distribution day.
We are aware that some district devices have different updates installed and the directions below may not look exactly the same as your device. You may need to call the tech support line (425) 408-7669 to have your device updated remotely.
We have created a quick NNAT3 tutorial video explaining how to log in. You can find that video at the bottom of this page.
Step 3: Please complete the Academic Honesty Pledge attestation form found below.
Step 4: Read the directions and watch the video instruction on how to login to the test then choose a time where you can take the 30 minute test uninterrupted.
A few reminders before you test:
- Please remember to complete your attestation form found below or at https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/8a4a67d39f65473aafee1417146e7a87
- The NNAT3 takes 30 minutes to complete and is internally timed.
- The test does not allow you to stop and come back to the test. Please find a time when you can dedicate 30 uninterrupted minutes to the test.
- During business hours our technology department will be able to assist you with device issues (425) 408-7669. If you have a testing issue, please contact the highly capable department at firstname.lastname@example.org . However, we may not be immediately available. We will work to reconcile all reasonable requests as soon as we can get to the email.
- If you have a 504 or IEP with testing accommodations allowing for more time, your accommodations have been built into the test for you.
- Please remember that your username is your unique student ID number and your password will be provided to you.
Northshore School District uses the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT3) as one of its screening tools. Screeners are used to identify students with the potential for Highly Capable Program eligibility. Screening results will be communicated to schools and families in the late winter or early spring. For more information on the NNAT3 testing instrument visit our NNAT3 information page.
