Outings

Pathways is a community-based program in which students learn various skills in real-life settings. The community is accessed through walks and public community transit.

Part of each day is spent in the community and part in the classroom.  Classroom activities vary depending on the student needs.  During community outings students participate in:

  • Community walks - fitness, community safety, social interactions
  • Coffee shop - paying, managing behaviors, street crossing, choice making, ordering, waiting appropriately
  • Community Transit - waiting for the bus, socializing while at the bus stop and on the bus, paying using ORCA card
  • Grocery store - planning, budgeting, getting to the store, navigating the store, shopping, as well as money and social skills.
