Middle School Music Information
Sixth grade is the time for students to join band, choir, and orchestra! Students can participate in Northshore's renowned music program by registering for a music class in middle school. All students are welcome - no previous experience is required. Information about middle school music programs is below. What to expect in Middle School music class
🎵Music is part of your school schedule.
🎵 Music class includes practice to help you grow as a musician and rehearsal to grow as an ensemble.

Can I still do other classes and activities if I choose music?
Yes! You also get to have 2 elective classes from the wheel.
Yes! You can also participate in other sports and clubs.
Yes! You will have opportunities for other electives in 7th and 8th grade in addition to music.
Yes! 6th grade is the best time to join band, choir and orchestra!
How do I sign up?
5th graders will meet with the middle school counselors in February or March. They will tell you about all of the class options in 6th grade. You can select band, choir or orchestra as a yearlong elective.

It isn’t too late! You and your parents can contact your middle school counselor to make a change to join music.
