Math pathway to complete Algebra 1 in middle school 

The chart below shows the math course progression that students might take during middle school in order to successfully complete Algebra 1 by the end of 8th grade. 

Students who successfully complete Algebra 1 in middle school are on a trajectory to access Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) Higher Level as part of their High School and Beyond Plan. 

 

 

Math pathway to complete Algebra 1 in high school

The chart below show the math course progressions that students might take during middle school in order to be prepared to complete Algebra 1 in 9th grade. 

Students who complete Algebra 1 in 9th grade may choose to accelerate their math pathway in high school in order to access Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) Higher Level as part of their High School and Beyond Plan. 

 

Math Acceleration Options

Middle school students may choose to gain a single-year acceleration by taking a summer school math course.

Completing high school math courses beyond Algebra 1 in middle school

For students prepared for an accelerated math pathway, all middle schools offer Geometry and Algebra 2/Trigonometry. These high school math courses prepare students to take rigorous, college-level mathematics during high school.
