Math Curriculum

Washington has adopted learning standards developed through collaborative, public processes led by curriculum committees in Washington state, by collaborative coalitions of multiple states, and by national organizations and curriculum associations. This includes the Common Core State Standards in mathematics.

  • Grades K-5: The district adopted Math Expressions as the K-5 core math curriculum in 2009 and updated in 2013. The program is constructed to match the stair-step mastery of skills presented in the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics.
  • Grades 6-8: The district adopted Core Focus on Mathematics as the 6-8 core math curriculum in Spring 2018 to be implemented in Fall 2018.
  • Grades 8-11: The district adopted Prentice-Hall as the core math curriculum for Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 in 2009.
