Childcare

2020 - 2021 School Year

Please see below for 2021 reopening childcare options.

Thanks to community partnerships, before and after school care is available at all Northshore elementary schools. We contract with the Northshore YMCA and the Champions Program to provide these services to our families.

Additionally, your elementary school office maintains a list of other child care providers that do business in the school's attendance area. Inclusion on these lists does not imply that the services have been endorsed by the Northshore School District.

Summer with Northshore YMCA

Great summers start at the Y! With active days spent learning new skills and making lifelong friends, Y Day Camps offer fun camp activities to engage brains, exploration rotations to encourage kids to try new things, and plenty of physical activity and games to keep bodies moving.  Registration opens March 20 at ykids.org.

This summer, we’re offering five types of day camp.

  • Kids on Their Way (Entering Kindergarten): Give your child a head start for Kindergarten. Y staff lead activities that focus on fun, but also build cognitive and social skills to ensure they are ready for their first days of school. Your child must be five by the first day of camp.
  • Outdoor Day Camp (Grades 1 to 5): Campers learn to respect and enjoy the magic of the outdoors through exciting adventures with weekly focus areas in outdoor environmental education. Days fly by as campers make new friends and develop skills while exploring and participating in team-building activities within their groups.
  • Discovery Camp (Grades 1 to 5): Every day is an adventure! Campers will participate in new activities daily that involve the theme of the week. Enthusiastic Y staff keep campers engaged, balancing enrichment experiences with physical games and outdoor play.
  • Peak Camp (Grades 6 to 8): Set your sights on the summit this summer. This new camp is designed to help develop decision-making skills in young teens by encouraging positive values and providing challenging, fun, and character-building experiences. Led by some cool counselors, campers will reach their peak together through time outdoors in team building, group games, and community service projects.
  • Virtual Camp in a Box (Grades K to 6): Bring summer day camp fun to wherever you are! Each week, the box will be filled with the tools you need to explore the great nearby including classic camp activities like arts and crafts and hands-on STEM projects. Campers stay connected with each other and their counselor through twice daily interactive virtual camp time.

The Y is committed to ensuring all families have access to quality and enriching youth programs. We accept Working Connections Child Care (WCCC) subsidy at many locations. In addition, the Y provides financial assistance and a sliding fee schedule. If you are interested in a summer day camp scholarship, we encourage you to email us at registration@seattleymca.org.
