Safe Schools Advisory Committee

To ensure that community voices are included in shaping school safety investments for the 2026 Bond, the Northshore School District (NSD) Safety and Security Department has created an advisory committee, known as the Safe Schools Advisory Committee. The committee shall be comprised of representative parents, community members, faculty, students and first responders who are interested in school safety and security priorities. The Safe Schools Advisory Committee serves as an advisory committee to the Director of Safety and Security.

Committee Goals

The Safe Schools Advisory Committee is charged with the following goals:

  • Assess past and current safety investments to understand progress and impact.

  • Review updated safety and security needs in collaboration with experts and stakeholders.

  • Refine key focus areas to ensure they reflect district priorities and evolving best practices.

  • Develop recommendations for safety and security improvements in the upcoming bond.

Membership

The members of the Safe Schools Advisory Committee shall be appointed by the Director of Safety and Security. Membership is made of NSD students, staff and community across the district. Law Enforcement and Fire Services participation is also included.

Committee's Role

The Safe Schools Advisory Committee will meet virtually three times between April and June 2025. Members are expected to attend all three meetings. The committee will develop safety and security recommendations to inform the work of the Capital Bond Planning Task Force and the School Board.
