"The very serious function of racism is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work. It keeps you explaining, over and over again, your reason for being."
Equity & Diversity
Northshore is committed to creating a safe, caring, and mutually respectful environment within our school district community so that all students, families and staff feel welcomed, valued and supported. We recognize that the diversity represented across our communities and throughout our schools has steadily changed and that even greater racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, economic diversity is projected in the years to come.
We are collecting resources community members have found to be helpful during COVID-19. These resources will be reviewed the Equity and Diversity department and a list will be compiled into a public working Google Doc that will be accessible to the community. Click here to share your resources!
The Northshore School District has a duty to cultivate the necessary conditions for just and equitable change in our education system and community.
Our calendar aims to expand the awareness about the multiple forms of diversity among our students and families, the days that students may not be at school due to religious observances, and the days that students may be fasting.
The Northshore School District has a commitment to create a safe, caring, and mutually respectful environment for all students, families, and staff.
To help develop and heighten racial literacy, cultural competency and allyship capacities, we maintain a growing catalog of resources and opportunities for our community.
We are dedicated to moving toward the positive culture outcomes students deserve. We work to develop a more inclusive, welcoming environment for all students, parents and staff.
The Equity & Diversity Department is lead by dedicated staff from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, each school in Northshore has an equity team to help guide the work at each building.
We love to highlight the equity-driven initiatives, events, and activities from across the District.
Our committee, comprised of staff, students and community members, provides guidance to District leadership on issues related to equity, diversity and inclusion.
