Leota: October 2025 Construction Update

Leota: October 2025 Construction Update

Work on the new three-story classroom building at Leota Middle School continues to make great progress since officially breaking ground in June 2025.

The most recent milestone reached is the completion of the storm detention vault installation, a major piece of infrastructure that supports proper site drainage and long-term sustainability for the campus. With this key component of the project in place, the staff parking lot reopened in October.

Over the past few months, the construction team has been working hard preparing the site and moving through key phases of construction. Here’s a look at what has been accomplished so far:

  • Site Development – The area has been fully prepared to support the new classroom building, setting the stage for safe, efficient construction.
  • Utility Installation – Water, power, and communications infrastructure are being connected to support the new building’s essential systems.
  • Foundation Complete – A strong foundation is in place, ensuring long-term durability and safety.
  • Structural Steel Erected – The steel frame has been erected, giving shape to what will soon be a vibrant learning space.
  • Slab Installation Complete – With the slab in place on schedule, progress begins on interior buildout and finishes.

Current Work in Progress:

  • Metal Framing Installation - Exterior and interior framing activities have started on schedule.
  • Fire Sprinkler System Installation – Critical safety systems are being installed to protect future students and staff.
  • Electrical and Mechanical Rough-In – Wiring and equipment installation is underway throughout the building to support lighting, electrical, mechanical, technology, and more.
  • HVAC Ductwork Installation – The construction team is placing the ductwork that will help maintain a comfortable and energy-efficient indoor environment.

This steady progress keeps the construction project on time, with a projected completion date of Winter 2026. All of this work was made possible due to the generous support of Northshore voters, who approved the 2022 Capital Bond.
