Construction at Leota Middle School continues to move forward smoothly, with exciting progress visible across the site as the new building begins to take shape. The project has reached several key milestones, marking the transition from structural work to defining the detailed layout of classrooms, corridors, and shared learning areas. Each new phase brings the vision of the completed school closer to reality.

Recently, Leota staff had the opportunity to tour the construction site and see firsthand the progress being made. To celebrate this milestone, students were invited to sign steel frame studs that are now part of the building’s permanent structure. These signatures and messages will remain within the walls of the new school — a lasting symbol of Leota’s strong sense of pride, community, and connection to the future campus.

Framing on the second floor is nearing completion, outlining future learning spaces and allowing visitors to better visualize how different areas will connect. Once framing inspections are complete, crews will move on to installing mechanical and electrical systems that will support the building’s interior infrastructure. Cornerstone, the project's general contractor, has already received air handlers that will be placed in the mechanical room, further advancing this next stage of construction.

The installation of the mechanical pad — which supports the school’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems — has been completed, paving the way for a comfortable and energy-efficient learning environment. Door frame installation is also progressing throughout the building, helping define individual rooms and corridors as interior spaces take shape.
At the roof level, work continues on the mechanical systems, and roofing installation is now underway. Stair installation has also begun, providing permanent access between floors and improving both safety and accessibility for construction crews.

Overall, the Leota Middle School project remains on schedule and continues to show exciting progress each week. In the coming months, the focus will shift toward interior development — including system installations and early finishing work. This project was made possible due to the generous support of Northshore voters, who approved the 2022 Capital Bond. The district and construction team extend heartfelt thanks to the Leota community for its ongoing support and enthusiasm as we work together to build a modern, inspiring learning environment for generations to come.
