Interior and exterior cameras were recently installed at Westhill Elementary and Sorenson Early Childhood Center. The wiring and programming is complete and the aiming and lens focusing is in process. Once these details are finalized in the coming days, the cameras will go live. The camera locations were recommended by the Safe Schools Advisory Committee.
These surveillance cameras are part of a pilot project that will give staff the ability to monitor students and visitors, as well as deter vandalism and misbehavior. Once the cameras go live, staff will assess their effectiveness and make adjustments as needed, prior to going out for a districtwide bid.
These cameras were made possible by the generous support of Northshore voters who approved the 2018 bond.
