April Update: Districtwide Lock Upgrades Continue
upgraded lock on school door

Main classroom entry locks have been upgraded at 14 of the District’s elementary and middle schools as part of the pilot and phase I of the project. Nine additional schools remain to be completed in phase I and this is anticipated to occur in the next two months. Phase II of the lock upgrades include Bothell, Inglemoor, North Creek and Woodinville high schools, along with the District’s Adult Transition Program and are anticipated to be under contract soon for completion expected by the end of the 2020 calendar year. The remaining elementary and middle school lock upgrades are expected to go out to bid this month as part of phase III. The completion of primary entrance lock installations is expected by the end of September and all locks are scheduled for completion by the end of 2020/early 2021.

The new locks can be locked from inside the classroom without the use of a key, while the old locks required someone to lock the door from the outside with a key. The new locks also have a visual indicator which will help in an emergency situation.

These safety upgrades were made possible by the generous support of our Northshore community who approved the 2018 bond.
