This is an update on the District’s response to COVID-19 coronavirus since we have moved learning from the classroom to the cloud. News about this health concern across our country is rapidly changing. We will do our best to keep you informed.
If your student receives special education services in the Northshore School District, please share your comments, concerns and questions related to your student’s experience with online learning.
Beginning today, the Northshore School District created space in five locations for our community partners to provide childcare. Thanks to the YMCA and Champions, there should be a space for every student whose family is in need. In addition, the Northshore Schools Foundation is generously providing scholarships for families who would otherwise be unable to afford the childcare. A typical day for any participant in these student support centers will include access to devices for continued online learning and connection to teachers, time for play, and meals provided by the Northshore School District Food Services Department. The community partners will practice social distancing at each location, which will include small groups throughout the day. Partners will perform well checks including temperature check upon arrival as well as the social distancing. The District will perform daily site disinfection.

High School Athletics - Suspending Games
In order to be in alignment with what other KingCo league schools are doing, all Northshore School District High School athletic competitions are being suspended through March 22, 2020. Practices will continue to be permitted within the already established parameters (listed below) at this time. This decision to permit practice is based on the WIAA's requirement of minimum mandatory practices before competitions begin, which we still anticipate taking place in the future.
- Practices will happen with a few rules below:
- Locker rooms are to remain closed all day.
- Athletes and coaches need to meet at their practice site (on fields, track, etc)
- No weight room and no large groups gathering in training rooms.
- No team meetings inside.
- Badminton can still practice in the gym. Athletes are to meet you directly there. Bathrooms close to the gym should be open and are being disinfected regularly.
- No rainy day indoor practices for teams besides badminton.
The district will continue to monitor the situation closely and will adjust guidance as necessary.
