Gearing Up for 2020-21: Meals, Childcare, Schoology, District Field Use and More

We are excited to kick-off the 2020-21 school year next week! Below is information that will help support your student’s success this year, as well as important updates for our community.

Meals During Distance & Hybrid Learning

Continuing to provide access to nutrition has been a priority in Northshore throughout the pandemic. While in stages 1-4 of our staged approach to reopening school buildings, we will offer meal packs for pick up at 38 locations across the District. Each pack includes five breakfasts and five lunches, along with a half gallon and two half-pints of milk, which is intended to cover a school week at a time. All students enrolled in the Northshore School District are eligible to pre-order meals each week. The first order window opens tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 27 at 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28 for meals that will be picked up next week on Wednesday or Thursday. Please visit our District website for more information about how and when to place your order, times and locations for meal pick-up, pricing, and how to apply for free and reduced-price meals.

Childcare

Details for childcare during Northshore Learns 3.0 are now available! Please visit our website to review the information and pricing from our community partners, Northshore YMCA and Champions. You may register for either provider, but please know that space is limited.

The information is based on a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) that is being finalized this week. The childcare providers have opened registration with the understanding that the MOU will be finalized before Sept. 2, 2020.

Reminder: Schoology Parent Orientations

As a reminder, we are holding parent orientations to ensure families have the support they need for Northshore Learns 3.0. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions through Q and A during each session. Sessions will be held at the following times:

Please know that space is limited to 3,000 participants per session for those who will be able to ask questions. If we have reached 3,000, families will be directed to our YouTube channel where they can view live. Also, each of the orientations will be recorded. To view orientations after they are recorded, visit our website.

District Playground & Field Use

As a reminder, all district playgrounds and fields remain closed to the public. Team games, picnics, and other recreational gatherings are not permitted. The tennis court gates have been unlocked, but all community members are asked to adhere to social distancing requirements while using the courts. The tennis courts may not be used during school hours, once the school year begins on Sept. 2.

**Additionally, please know that the tennis courts at Inglemoor are closed, as the location is part of the area that is being mobilized for construction of the Northshore Concert Hall. The tennis courts will be fully rebuilt and relocated to the area between the softball field and baseball field. They are expected to reopen when the project is complete next year. Inglemoor’s Athletic Department has an alternate site set for this year's sports season.
