Inclement Weather during COVID-19

In the event of inclement weather, if buildings will not be safe for instructional staff use, we must inform students and staff of building closures so they can make other arrangements.

  • On days with expected inclement weather, the District will follow the usual process to assess road conditions.
  • The decision to close or delay will be made by the Superintendent as early as possible, usually by 5:30 am.
  • The decision to close will be communicated to families whose students are in-person at the time of a closure as well as to all staff.

Announcements will be as follows:

  1. No Closure Announcement
    • In-person programs proceed normally per the Stage.
    • Distance learning proceeds as normal.
    • Instructional staff may access buildings.
    • Food delivery and book delivery as scheduled.
    • Day Care sites open as normal.
  2. In-Person Closure Announcement
    • In-person programs revert to distance learning.
    • No out of district transportation.
    • No testing.
    • Distance learning proceeds as normal.
    • Instructional staff may access buildings with proper caution.
    • Food delivery as scheduled.
    • Book delivery cancelled.
    • Day Care sites open two hours late.
  3. Closed
    • In-person programs revert to distance learning.
    • Distance learning proceeds as normal.
    • Buildings are closed to instructional staff.
    • Support Services staff may be required to come to buildings.
    • Food delivery and book delivery are cancelled.
    • Alternatives will be explored with Food Services (multi day packs before expected inclement weather, Northshore Eats, etc.)
    • Day Care sites closed.

Teachers and other staff who are accessing buildings should be prepared for a possible closure due to inclement weather, and ensure they have appropriate materials available at home work sites.
