Reopening Plan & Safety Protocols
The following plan was developed by District staff in preparation for a return to school and District buildings when it is safe to do so. The information in this handbook is intended to help everyone understand required safety protocols and know what to expect for every student and staff member. As the pandemic data and state response continue to evolve, District staff will continue to review, refine, and adjust this plan as needed. We remain grateful for their efforts.
The return to in-person learning will be most successful and have the best chance to be sustainable if we are all prepared and working together. We ask that you familiarize yourself and your students with the following health department protocols and CDC requirements.
- Follow all guidance from the state and county health agencies for the health and safety of students and staff
- Provide high quality teaching and learning for all students
- Consider the needs of our most vulnerable students in educational programming
- Consider impacts to families
The Washington State Department of Health has provided a toolkit with two checklists to ensure readiness to implement all required DOH Health and Safety Measures and Labor & Industry (L&I) requirements, as well as a matrix that summarizes recommendations for the provision of in-person learning based on the community’s metrics. This toolkit helps guide the reopening of schools based on the level of community transmission of COVID-19. We are working closely with the county health districts to stay up-to-date on the COVID-19 trends to help inform our decisions.
At any time, the District may have to move quickly back to fully remote learning for all students if:
- Cases rise back into the “High Activity Level”, or
- The health districts recommend closure due to increased cases
As the pandemic data and state response continue to evolve, the plan and protocols may change. Visit the Updates & Changes page to review any adjustments and subscribe to be notified if any information on this website changes.
