Sprinkler Upgrade Project at Kokanee Elementary Reaches Substantial Completion

This summer’s work for phase II of Kokanee Elementary’s fire sprinklers has reached substantial completion. The scope of this phase covered upgrading fire sprinklers in four of the school’s buildings. This was a continuation of the work that began last summer, which included upgrades to the school’s roof, a HVAC replacement and fire sprinkler upgrades.

Overall, this project will save energy by nearly $73,000 in utility cost savings per year to the District. This savings equals carbon reduction of 135 acres of trees planted or 1,085,681 lbs of carbon removed from the environment per year.

These much needed improvements were made possible thanks to the generous support of Northshore voters who approved the 2018 bond, along with a Department of Commerce energy grant and a Puget Sound Energy grant for utility incentives.
