October Construction Update: Elementary #21

October Construction Update: Elementary #21
Elementary #21 exterior

Elementary #21’s exterior continues to make progress! Ninety percent of the metal panels have been installed on the exterior of the building. An asphalt-treated base has been placed on the school’s east parking lot and the turf athletic field installation is 95% complete.

Metal roofing on the Large On-Site Sewage System (LOSS) building was completed this month. Inside, equipment such as the control units and pumps are being installed.

The school’s interior is also taking shape. Many of the rooms are painted and some of the cabinets have been installed. During October, certain sections of the building had partitions, plumbing fixtures and sinks installed in the bathrooms.

The planning principal, Cathi Davis and the Capital Projects team are in the process of selecting furniture for the school. The school is on schedule to open fall 2020.

The naming process for the school is ongoing. The Elementary #21 Naming Committee carefully reviewed the ideas and School Board policy and narrowed the selection down to 11 names. Now, families, students, staff and community members are invited to help further narrow the choices through Nov. 15.

This project was made possible by the generous support of Northshore voters, who approved the 2018 bond.
