Northshore Students Shine at International DECA Competition

Northshore Students Shine at International DECA Competition

Congratulations to the Northshore students who competed in the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in April. Nearly 13,000 DECA members participated in the International event, where the best-of-the-best DECA students from North America competed in a business case study competition.

In each event, there were either 180 individuals or teams. Students presented their case study or plan to judges and the top two from each section advanced to the finals round of the competition based on a combined score of test and presentation.

Students qualified for the ICDC based on being in the top 7 in their event at the state level. Students prepared in a variety of ways, depending on their event type. All students created a video presentation, then had a video conference meeting a judge for the finals round. Some students also prepared slide presentations or written papers. Students who were named finalists were in the top 20 for their event, and places were awarded to first, second and third.

The collective results from the Northshore DECA programs are in the top five best results by school districts from across the country.
