Learn About Northshore’s Enrollment and Demographic Trends

This fall, the Northshore School Board will continue its conversation about changing enrollment and demographic trends across our district. We invite our community to learn alongside the Board during three study sessions in September and October.

These sessions will build on discussions that began last spring and provide a deeper look at enrollment trends and what they mean for Northshore schools now and in the future.

Board Study Session Dates:

  • Monday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. (Administrative Center & YouTube Stream)
  • Monday, Sept. 28 at 5:30 p.m. (Administrative Center & YouTube Stream)
  • Monday, Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m. (Administrative Center & YouTube Stream)

Why are We Doing this Work?

Approximately every ten years, Northshore conducts a comprehensive review of enrollment and demographic trends to help plan for the future. This includes looking at birth rates, residential growth, enrollment patterns, school facility conditions, and school boundaries.

The goal is to make thoughtful, long-term decisions that support our students, families, and staff while reducing the need for repeated changes in the years to come.

Who is Involved?

Northshore is working with a professional demographer and the Enrollment Demographics Advisory Committee (EDAC), a long-standing district advisory group, made up of Northshore parents, staff, and community members. EDAC analyzes the enrollment and demographic data and helps identify potential solutions for district staff and the School Board to consider.

How Can You Get Involved?

At this time, no decisions have been made. Final recommendations will be presented to the School Board for approval in early March 2027 with no changes taking effect until fall 2028. Community input is vital to this process and in shaping the final recommendations to the School Board. Look for open houses, community conversations, and online feedback forms launching this fall and winter. Please also visit the district website next week for additional background information.

We look forward to engaging with you in this important process!
