Kenmore Elementary PTA Hosts Free Book Fair for Students

Kenmore Elementary School's PTA (KEPTA) recently hosted its annual book fair, which is its effort to provide all students with free books to read during the summer. Students chose from all kinds of books organized by Team KEPTA—tables were set with classics, chapter books, graphic novels, and picture books, among others. The team recognizes the need to provide high-interest books, especially for reluctant readers, and the importance of reading during summer break.

KEPTA connected with teachers, librarians, and students to fulfill requests and offer multiple copies of those most loved books. Then, on June 2 and 3, Kenmore Cubs "shopped" for books, and on average each student left with 6-7 books of their choice. KEPTA also provided additional books in Spanish and French for our multi-lingual readers. Teachers are rounding out their classroom libraries with remaining books. In all, KEPTA provided well over 4,000 books free to our students. This was a huge undertaking by parent volunteers. Thank you, Team KEPTA, for encouraging our students' love of reading and creating a festive and fun event for all of our students.
