Important Information about Free Meals, Health Check, Transportation and More

As we prepare to welcome students back to buildings, we want to share important information about processes to ensure a successful transition, as well as changes to our free meals program. 

Free Meals Program

Our free meals program is changing and we want to be sure families are prepared to place orders that are appropriate for their situation.

Daily Meals: 

• The last day for pick-up of daily meals at most locations is Friday, March 19.
• The last day for daily meal home deliveries is Friday, March 19. 
• During Bridge Weeks, Monday March 22 - Friday, April 2 daily meals can be picked up at five locations only: Canyon Creek Elementary, Cottage Lake Elementary, Frank Love Elementary, Kenmore Elementary and Bothell High School.
• Beginning March 22, all daily meals must be picked up between 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
• In addition, we encourage families who normally order daily meals to order the weekly pack on March 17 or 18 and pick it up on Wednesday, March 24. Orders for the next weekly meal pack must be placed on Wednesday, March 31 or Thursday, April 1 for pick-up on April 7. 
• Once K-3 hybrid learning begins, there will be no daily meal pick up locations. Students attending in-person will be able to access breakfast and lunch at their school.

Weekly Meal Packs: 

• Weekly meal packs will follow the usual Wednesday pick up schedule on March 24, March 31 and April 7.
• Weekly meal packs will continue following Spring Break. More details about the schedule of these packs will be communicated in the coming weeks.

Student Health Check Form & Practice Opportunity

On March 22, the official Northshore School District’s Health Check form will be launched for all students. Each morning, parents and guardians must complete this form for their student prior to their student arriving on campus, during Bridge Weeks and hybrid learning. Middle and high school students can complete their own health check form daily if they prefer. Completion is required prior to entering the building. Parents and guardians must complete this form daily in order to access anything else in ParentVUE. This includes parents and guardians of students in all modes of learning -- Bridge Weeks, hybrid and remote. By completing this form on a daily basis, all families will be familiar with the process when their students do return to in-person learning.

If the answer to any of the questions on the daily Health Check form is yes, the student must stay home and contact their school.

To pilot the process, we’ve activated the Health Check form in ParentVUE. When you login you will be prompted to complete the Health Check form for your student. Tomorrow, March 18 we will run a practice Health Check for all students -- this practice is for students in all modes of learning: Bridge Weeks, hybrid learning and remote. To begin making this process part of your morning routine, we encourage all families to participate in this practice Health Check before their student begins their school day. However, the practice Health Check process will be accessible all day on March 18, so if you need to complete the form later in the day please do so to ensure that you are able to complete the form. 

Families can visit nsd.org/healthcheck to get more information about how to access the form. The webpage has step by step instructions, along with helpful tutorial videos in accessing ParentVUE and StudentVUE, as well as how to complete the daily form. The Northshore School District mobile app also provides access to the webpage. You can select the icon titled “Health Check” and it will bring you directly to the webpage where the forms are located. Each school will communicate how they will verify on campus that each student’s health check form has been completed.

If you forget to complete the form before arriving on campus, QR codes will be available to scan with your mobile device’s camera outside the building. There will be an area in the parking lot with QR code signs. These will take you directly to nsd.org/healthcheck to complete the process. Paper copies will also be available on site or provided to families ahead of time, if needed.

Kindergarten and Special Needs Student Permission to Release Form for Bus Riders

Families with kindergarten and special needs students who are bus riders must complete the Permission to Release form to designate who will meet their student at the bus stop. Bus drivers are only authorized to release kindergarten and special needs students at their designated stop to a parent, pre-authorized adult or older sibling. If a designated individual is not present at the stop, students will be returned to their school at the end of the route.

Childcare

The Northshore School District and our childcare providers, Champions and YMCA, are making final arrangements for childcare options beginning April 5. When details are confirmed, all families who have identified interest in childcare on the “Intent to Return Survey” will be emailed specifics. Information will also be posted on the Northshore School District Childcare webpage. 

Family Tech Support

During remote learning the Family Technology Support Hotline has been staffed by members of the District’s Transportation Department who must now return to their primary roles.

Beginning March 22, families who call (425) 408-7669 for student tech support will be asked to leave a voicemail and their call will be returned within 48 hours. Additionally, families will be able to report and submit a technology support issue and request direct contact from the Family Tech Support Team by completing a form by visiting go.nsd.org/StudentTechHelp.

After-school Online Enrichment Opportunities

The Northshore School District has contracted with 6crickets who continue to maintain a database of community organizations that are offering winter break and after-school enrichment opportunities through the end of the 2020-2021 school year. The database has enrichment opportunities focused on theater, baking, STEM, public speaking and more. To view these opportunities please visit the Online Enrichment webpage. 

Community Assistance

During the COVID-19 outbreak, our community continues to come together to provide assistance to families and community members in need. This assistance includes childcare, employment, food, mental health support and other resources. To learn more about organizations that are offering support visit the Community Assistance webpage.
