Help shape the District by joining a committee

The Northshore School District currently has two opportunities for our community to help shape the District through work on different committees:

  • Financial Advisory Committee
  • Racial and Educational Justice Committee

We invite you to review the information and if interested, submit an application prior to the deadline for the committee in which you are interested.

Financial Advisory Committee

The Northshore School District seeks parents/guardians, community members, and staff to apply for the Financial Advisory Committee (FAC). The committee will analyze and study a variety of data and available information to help understand the district’s budget, as well as state and federal budget parameters. Committee responsibilities may include:

  • Providing community and stakeholder perspective on budget priorities,
  • Communicating with and educating the public,
  • Providing benchmarking reports, and
  • Providing feedback regarding concerns and recommendations associated with the District's budget and finance issues.

To learn more, visit the Finance Advisory Committee webpage. To be considered for the committee, please complete the application by Thursday, Sept. 21.

Racial and Educational Justice Committee

Northshore currently seeks middle and high school students, parents/guardians, and community members who would like to apply for the District’s Racial and Educational Justice Committee. This committee serves as an advisory to the Racial and Educational Justice Department and advocates for our community at large. The committee’s aim is to provide our Northshore community with support, guidance, and information to fuel equitable practices in the District. Central focuses for the Racial and Educational Justice Committee include:

  • Promotion of inclusion and equity for all members within our Northshore community,
  • Review and analysis of data in order to form policy and procedure recommendations,
  • Alignment with the District’s Strategic Plan, and
  • Support in identifying, reviewing, and implementing events, opportunities, initiatives, and efforts that best support our diverse students, staff, families, and community members.

To learn more, visit the Racial and Educational Justice Committee webpage, and to be considered for participation in the committee, please complete the application by Wednesday, Sept. 13. Per the 2023-25 NSEA Certificated and ESP Contracts, NSEA members will be appointed by NSEA to the Racial and Educational Justice Committee.

The Racial and Educational Justice Department will reserve 10 positions on the Racial and Educational Justice Committee for NSEA appointed representatives. Current NSEA members will complete their terms—as positions open NSEA will appoint new members.
