Community members gathered on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022 to celebrate the educational spaces and learning taking place in the Skyview Middle and Canyon Creek Elementary expansion building, which was completed in 2020. Due to COVID-19, the open house and ribbon cutting event that was originally scheduled in March 2020 was postponed. More than 75 community members attended and enjoyed seeing the classroom spaces with student tour guides and listening to the music of the Skyview Middle School Jazz Band prior to the ribbon cutting.

The ribbon was officially cut with help from (left to right in photo) Dawn Mark, Northshore Director of Facilities Planning and Enrollment; Interim Superintendent Michael Tolley; School Board Member Sandy Hayes; School Board Member Amy Cast; School Board President Jacqueline McGourty; Skyview Middle School students Landon Carr and Anvi Babu; Jay Henson of BLRB Architects; Sam Comer of Cornerstone Construction; Canyon Creek Principal Brandi Doyle; and Skyview Principal Matt Wallace.

This project was completed thanks to the generous support of Northshore voters, who approved the 2018 Capital Bond. This $50 million project included building a two-story, 30-classroom addition that is shared by Skyview and Canyon Creek, with Skyview utilizing the first floor classrooms and Canyon Creek using the second floor. Also included in the improvements were the addition of new health/gym classrooms and a covered outdoor area at Skyview; renovations and expansion of the Skyview kitchen, cafeteria, and main office; expansion of the Canyon Creek gym; a new outdoor play structure at Canyon Creek, and more.
