The Bothell High Jazz Band 1 was selected as a finalist for the prestigious Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition and Festival. On May 9-11, commemorating the 125th birthday of jazz great Duke Ellington, the top 15 high school-aged jazz bands from across the country will converge at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s home, Frederick P. Rose Hall, in New York, NY. This is the third consecutive year Jazz 1 at Bothell, under the direction of teacher Phil Dean, has been selected to participate in Essentially Ellington. They will spend their time immersed in workshops, jam sessions, rehearsals, and performances. Congratulations to these outstanding student-musicians for this honor!
