2024-25 Administrative Staffing Updates

Below you will find a summary of administrative changes that took place on or after July 1, 2024. Some of these changes were already shared this last spring as part of the Administrative Center reorganization and budget reduction process. Other staffing changes were made in response to retirements and or school staffing allocations. 

 

Division of Teaching and Learning

Dr. Amity Butler is the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning with oversight of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, Research and Evaluation, College and Career Readiness, K-12 Highly Capable Programming, Grants, Teacher Induction Program, and Instructional Programming (Title II Grants, Course Requests, Course Codes), in addition to supervision of the Teaching and Learning team. Previously Dr. Butler was the Regional Assistant Superintendent of the West Region.

Adra Davy is the Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning, and she will be responsible for creating strong structures for professional development in support of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and the Danielson Framework (teacher evaluation) during the 2024-25 school year. Ms. Davy served previously as the Director of Just Education and Adaptive Technology.

Dr. Obadiah Dunham now serves as the Chief Academic Officer, overseeing the departments of School Support, Special Education, Student Services, Teaching and Learning as well as strategic plan progress monitoring, teacher and principal growth and evaluation, and leadership professional development. Dr. Dunham previously was the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Special Education.

Meghan Griffin is the Assistant Director in the Teaching and Learning Division. Ms. Griffin will be supporting special assignments including World Language Competency Testing, implementation of the Washington State updated growth goals, and the 2022 Danielson Instructional Framework. 

Ebony Harvey is now the Director of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), leading MTSS support and implementation, the Learning Assistance Program, English Language Development, Categorical Funding (Title I, Title III, LAP, and TBIP), and acting as the District’s liaison with the Eastside Native Language Program. Harvey was previously the Director of Accelerated Models and Programs.

Dr. Scott Irwin is the Director of Elementary Schools Special Education, providing oversight for elementary school special education programming, NSD Special Education Mental Health Specialists, ESY, and SEAT. Dr. Irwin was previously Director of Special Education for the West Region.

Heather Miller is the Executive Director of High Schools, and in this capacity, she will oversee all six high schools in the District, Northshore Learning Options, ATI/ATP, District Athletics, High School Graduation Planning and Support, New Administrator Induction, High School Programming (Graduation Pathways, Running Start, World Language Competency, High School Master Schedules, High School Grading, Transcripts), High School Counselors, and Secondary Summer School. Ms. Miller was previously the Regional Assistant Superintendent of the West Region.

Shannon Phanhthavilay is the Director of Middle School Special Education, providing oversight for middle school special education programming, BCBA Programming, NSD Behavior Programs, CPI, Special Education Teachers on Special Assignment, SEAT, and acts as liaison with Northshore Learning Options. Ms. Phanhthavilay was previously Director of Special Education for the East Region.

Dr. Melissa Riley is the Executive Director of K-8 Schools in the North and East Pathways and will provide oversight for  the schools in these pathways. Additionally she will oversee all Middle School Counselors and Middle School Programming (Middle School Master Scheduling, Course Catalog, and Grading). Dr. Riley was previously the Regional Assistant Superintendent of the North Region.

Dr. Ayva Thomas is the Executive Director of Racial and Educational Justice. Dr. Thomas will oversee Northshore’s Student Justice Collective, Student Justice Conference, Racial and Educational Justice Committee, Racial and Educational Justice School Teams, Ethnic Studies in partnership with Teaching and Learning, AVID, and the implementation of the 2024-27 Racial and Educational Justice Framework. Additionally, she will continuously codesign with youth, facilitate professional learning, and enact collaborative partnerships with families and communities. Dr. Thomas was previously the Director of Racial and Educational Justice. 

Julie Trembath-Neuberger is the Director of High School Special Education, which includes providing oversight for high school special education programing, Out of District Placement, School Psychologists, Adult Transition Program, Post Secondary Calls, and Graduation Pathways. Trembath-Neuberger was previously Director of Special Education for the North Region.

Dr. Melissa Ward is the Early Childhood Coordinator, serving Head Start as the Center Director. overseeing compliance with Head Start and the PSTAA grant, supervising the Early Childhood Family Support Specialists, and leading the Early Childhood Evaluation Team. Dr. Ward was previously a school psychologist and was an administrator in special education.

Dr. David Wellington is the Executive Director of K-8 Schools in the South and West Pathways and will provide oversight for the schools in these pathways. Additionally he will oversee all Elementary Counseling, Elementary School Programming (Elementary Master Scheduling, Grading, 5th Grade Camp, PACE, and Kindergarten). Dr. Wellington was previously the Regional Assistant Superintendent of the East Region.

 

Division of Facilities and Operations

Cedric Collins is now the Director of Safety and Security. Collins joins Northshore from the Winston-Salem School District in North Carolina, where he oversaw security for the district’s 81 schools and 22 additional school properties. Prior to that, Collins worked for the Bothell Police Department for more than 23 years. 

Sabrina Warren is now the Transportation Manager. Warren served in a similar role in the Riverview School District previously. 

Sam Yuhan is the Assistant Director of Human Resources, with primary responsibility for supporting certificated staff. Yuhan comes to Northshore after most recently serving as the Assistant Director of Equity and Talent Engagement in the HR department in the Mukilteo School District.

 

Schools

South and West Pathways

Patty Allen is now the Assistant Principal of Crystal Springs (.5 FTE) and Frank Love Elementary (.5 FTE). Ms. Allen was previously at Crystal Springs full-time as the assistant principal.

Elizabeth Cano is the Assistant Principal of Woodmoor Elementary. Previously, Ms. Cano was the Assistant Principal of Kenmore Elementary.

Bruce Cordingly is the Assistant Principal of Moorlands Elementary. Mr. Cordingly was most recently the Assistant Principal of Woodmoor Elementary.

LaTisha Joseph is now Assistant Principal of Kenmore Elementary. Ms. Joseph was previously the Assistant Principal of Moorlands Elementary.

 

North and East Pathways

Dr. Greg Cox is an Assistant Principal at North Creek High School. Dr. Cox was most recently interim assistant principal at Fernwood Elementary.

Meghan Crane is the Assistant Principal of Fernwood Elementary. Ms. Crane previously served as the Assistant Principal of Ruby Bridges Elementary.

Sharyn Mehner is the Principal of Skyview Middle School. Ms. Mehner was most recently Assistant Principal at North Creek High School.

Cassie Morton is now the Principal of Fernwood Elementary. Ms. Morton served as interim principal at Fernwood beginning in late January 2024 and prior to that was the school’s assistant principal.
