Employment Types Include:

  • Administrative Jobs – Certificated (school leader or central office positions) or Classified (directors, managers, or supervisors).

    Certificated Jobs – Contracted certificated educator and certificated substitute are positions which require one of the following: Washington State teaching certificate; Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certificate; or Career and Technical Education (CTE) certificate.
    Classified Jobs – General employment staff and hourly employees occupying positions that do not require a certificate. These positions include school support staff, district service staff, and part-time or short-term hourly employees. 
    Certificated Substitute Jobs – Certificated substitutes for the district. 
    Classified Substitute Jobs – Paraeducators, school assistants, office personnel, emergency substitute teachers, nurses, bus drivers, custodians, cook assistants, and warehouse/delivery drivers substitutes for the district.

    Northwest University Grow-Your-Own (GYO) alternative route program

    Northshore School District has partnered with Northwest University for a Grow-Your-Own (GYO) online alternative routes program for NSD paraeducators and those with conditional certifications employed in our district. The program offers pathways at undergraduate and graduate levels for teaching certificates with endorsements in the following areas:
    • Elementary Education and Special Education
    • Elementary Education and English Language Learning
    • Secondary Mathematics and Middle-Level Mathematics
    • Secondary Biology and Middle-level Science

    Western Governors University

    Northshore School District as part of  PSESD 121 has partnered with WGU Washington. Partnership benefits for NSD employees include 5% discount on tuition for up to 4 terms and eligibility to apply for the WGU Washington K-12 Partners Scholarship. 


    Pipeline for Paraeducator Conditional Loan Scholarship

    This PESB scholarship provides funding for paraeducators who are currently employed with a minimum of 3 years classroom experience and does not hold a degree interested in obtaining their AA and then pursuing their teaching certificate. More information on the requirements and responsibilities of candidates can be found below. Applications are being reviewed by PESB March 6, 2018 and again May 8, 2018.
