C.P. & Dorothy Johnson Humanitarian Award

The award was established in honor of two educators who dedicated their lives to improving the lives of all children in our community. As part of this honor, we recognize two students from each school who display the characteristics of a humanitarian in their school and community.

Selection Criteria

Recipients of the C.P. & Dorothy Johnson Humanitarian Award consistently demonstrate value and dignity of others, treat others with respect, and promote the common good. Recipients were selected based on three criteria:

Acceptance

Students who promote the value and celebration of their peers’ strengths, abilities, and identities.

Community

Students who demonstrate the ability to promote and foster collaboration toward a common goal, fairness, freedom of expression, and effective communication within a group.

Advocacy

Students who support the needs of, and encourage equitable opportunities and resources for their peers.

 

 

C.P. and Dorothy Johnson

C.P. Johnson
Dorothy Johnson

Clifford Paul (C.P.) Johnson was born in March, 1909 and was raised on a farm in a French colony near New Orleans. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, and taught at several locations in the South and Southwest. During the war, he served as a U.S.O. Director for the Government. Over time, C.P. obtained a master’s degree in School Administration from the University of Washington in 1951.

Dorothy Louise Harris Johnson was born May, 1919 in Dallas, Texas. At the age of 16, Dorothy was admitted to Wiley College in Texas and earned her bachelor’s degree in Education. She went on to receive a master’s degree in Special Education at the University of Washington.

C.P. and Dorothy married during the war and made their first home in Austin, Texas. They lived and taught in Austin for 14 years. The Johnsons relocated to Seattle where C.P. and Dorothy accepted teaching positions in the Shoreline School District.

The couple moved to Bothell in 1961 and held their positions in Shoreline until 1969, when C.P. became Northshore School District’s first Coordinator of Minority Studies. He brought to the Northshore community a new awareness of the values of ethnic diversity speaking often of the responsibilities schools and communities have to understand the contributions of all people. Dorothy too had a way of showing those she met, their worth, skills and untapped abilities.

Aisha Memon

Aisha has dedicated her high school years to advocating for others and fostering inclusivity. She was instrumental in founding the Muslim Student Association Club and securing dedicated prayer time for students. Aisha collaborates with various clubs to recognize and celebrate diverse groups on campus. She also initiates conversations with peers and adults, promoting cultural understanding and diverse perspectives within the NCHS community. Her authenticity, leadership, and commitment to empowering others make her a true humanitarian.

Amogh Patil

Amogh is widely recognized as a servant leader within our school community. He is a highly motivated student who values inclusivity, integrity, and above all, a strong sense of community. He has contributed meaningfully through his role in ASB leadership and as an active participant in our drama and theater program. What stands out most about Amogh is his ability to stay deeply involved in extracurricular activities while maintaining an impressive 3.971 GPA—something he takes great pride in.

Anaya Buttar

Anaya is a kind, compassionate and fun five-year-old. She works hard at learning and is a positive role model for our students. She consistently helps with new students and any peer needing guidance. She takes it upon herself to help others and advocates for students of all abilities. Anaya is looked up to by her classmates and her smile brightens the hearts of those around her.

Anika Bhandari

Anika is a caring, motivated, inclusive student that does her best to help those around her. She is kind, compassionate and works to make others feel welcome, while also maintaining the utmost integrity. Anika is a leader who does not forget those in her group. She truly embodies the spirit of giving back to her community by working hard to shine in all she does in a way that allows everyone to shine.

Anne Katherine Stocklin

Anne Katherine (Katt) has a positive spirit that is contagious. She provides joyful, caring, thoughtfulness to those around her. She is empathetic and helpful to others–especially those who do not have someone else looking out for them. Katt started our Neurodiversity Affinity Group this year so that students have a safe place to be themselves and feel a sense of community and belonging. This club has improved the lives of its members and has been an invaluable addition to the KMS community.

Arielle Marantz

Arielle is a member of the student council and vied for the improvement of school equipment and spaces. She started an outreach operation in her friend group to "Adopt" students who enroll midyear, giving them a role to feel welcome. She has been a mentor/guide for younger kids outside the classroom and TA in her fiber arts class. She is a crossing guard, was selected as a representative to meet Mr Tolley and share thoughts on NFP and is a known advocate for all students.

Arjun Subramanian Narayanan

Arjun is a quiet leader and role model for kindness. He exemplifies acceptance and advocacy for peers. Arjun is quick with positive reinforcement and celebrations for others, understanding intuitively how to support peers. He is generous with empathy and compassion. He notices the struggles others face and reaches out to students who need a little support or who may need a friend. Arjun bravely brings injustices to the attention of others in order to make situations fair and just for all.  Arjun is amazing!

Arthur De Castro Higino

Arthur is kind and respectful. He cares about his classmates and his teachers. If you ask him how he’s doing, he always asks, “How about you?” He writes birthday cards and thank you cards. He makes friends easily, and he celebrates their successes. He's willing to help, especially when it would make someone feel better. He perseveres through difficulties, he cares about fairness, and he is a very good sport.

Ashely Ajith

Ashley consistently supports her classmates, especially those in the Sensory Program, with kindness and dedication. She assists with instruments and music puzzles, always going the extra mile. Her positive, caring nature shines in the library, PE, and music, where she puts others’ needs first. Inclusive and empathetic, Ashley ensures everyone feels valued and welcome. She advocates for her peers and embraces differences with warmth and compassion, making a meaningful impact through her thoughtful actions and genuine smile.

Ben Crane

Ben embodies empathy and inclusion modeling the vision of our school where each student can learn, lead and belong. He creates space for all peers to be in relationship, play and feel safe together. Ben is a caring and creative student with a strong sense of social justice and a ready advocate for the inclusion of all peers and for creating a community where belonging is standard. His warmth and genuine kindness is felt by all who interact with him.

Ben Ebersol

Ben has shown remarkable strengths, particularly in his honesty, commitment, and willingness to help others without expecting anything in return. Ben is a leader in our school and always has a smile on his face.  He works hard at making sure students are safe each morning as he performs his Safety Patrol Captain duties. In class, Ben is always on task and sets a good example for those around him. He is always so positive and kind.

Ben Kowallis

Ben is a leader at CMPS. Ben has stepped up as a master collaborator and innovator by directing, choreographing, acting, and set construction for our Productions. He is honest, reliable, responsible, and all can count on him. He leads a diverse group of students to a common goal; his peers look up to him, trust him, and feel heard. He has a unique way of bringing out the best in everyone and honors their differences with an equitable approach.

Benjamin Nguyen

Ben volunteered to use his graphic design skills to help update the IHS website in order to create a platform that is easier for families to navigate and highlights Inglemoor as a global school. Ben has been thorough, helpful, and a team player through the entire process. As a result of Ben's work, families have better navigation access to IHS' online materials and students and families that may have struggled to communicate with the school have an easier avenue.

Brooke Kroll

Brooke is consistently kind to her peers and respectful to school staff. She is always willing to help a friend or teacher in need and a fantastic helper to younger students. Even during times where the classroom setting may feel choatic she is consistently on task and responsible. A quiet leader who promotes being respectful, helpful and kind. Brooke is and advocate for what is right. She is dependable and trusthwothy.

Camila Barranco

Camila’s thoughtful, attentive and sensitive nature ensures that all of her classmates feel included. She consistently brings attention to classmates who wish to share their thoughts, making sure that everyone's voice is heard. Camila not only shares her own ideas but also celebrates the strengths of others, fostering a supportive environment. Her willingness to uplift her peers exemplifies the values of collaboration and kindness, making our classroom a more inclusive and positive space for all.

Charlotte Danielson

Charlotte goes above and beyond to make sure all students feel included. She is kind, thoughtful, empathetic and puts a high level of effort into everything she does. When a new student joined Westhill late in the year, I asked Charlotte to explain classroom procedures. She went far above that, befriending the student, asking her about her interests, and making sure she had someone to eat with and play with. Charlotte has such a kind heart, and treats others so well.

Cora Jewell

Through actions and kindness, Cora improves her community. She actively participates in teams for Racial Equity and Justice, Safety Patrol, and Green Team. Cora consistently models inclusion by reaching out to students who need support in social or academic areas. As a patroller, she also guides kindergarten to fifth grade students to be safe and responsible throughout campus. Finally, Cora has been instrumental in bringing composting to the older grades, and in supporting a supply drive for the Roadrunner Pantry. Cora is simply remarkable!

Declan Wirpel

Declan consistently demonstrates community during collaboration in his classes, his friendships, his connections with staff, and for the good of the entire school community.  Declan is accepting and thoughtful in every interaction.  He has become a peer mentor in study club formally and also informally when he notices others need help.  He sought out staff to learn strategies to work with students who struggle with focus or lack skills.  Declan is supportive of everyone, always kind, and encourages equitable opportunities.

Devyn Dockter

Devyn exemplifies all the qualities we hope to see in our students and more.  As a Link Leader, involved in choir, ASL, her patience, kindness, empathy, and energy create an inclusive, positive environment where everyone feels heard and valued. She wants to hear from the voices of others, encouraging to staff and students, great communication, always wanting her peers to participate and contribute. She is engaged and supporting others. Her attention to detail, respect for others and mindfulness makes her a joy to be around.

Eli Shirley

Eli is kind and caring. He is a friend to all. Eli is the first to notice if someone is feeling sad. He is inclusive and encouraging, not to just his friends, but to everyone he is around. Eli voluntarily supports peers as "coach,” supporting classmates with their academics and organization. He makes everyone around him feel seen and understood. Eli has served as a Junior Recess Coach, showing patience and leadership.

Elisa Cruz Hernandez

Elisa embodies kindness and acceptance in our school. She reaches out to those who may struggle to fit in, offering friendship and support. Elisa and her friends often approach the office offering their help with any projects. Her willingness to assist without hesitation shows her compassionate nature. Elisa's cheerful greetings and genuine respect for everyone she encounters brighten the days of both students and staff. She embodies the spirit of community and care, making our school a better place for all.

Ellison Murfitt

Ellison has consistently demonstrated respect, care, and compassion to all his classmates. When Ellison recognizes that another student may need help, he is quick to help or ask an adult for additional support. Ellison ensures that his classmates are included in all activities by inviting others to join in and by encouraging group collaboration. Ellison can be counted on to be kind and caring, and it is clear that he wants everyone to be treated fairly and respectfully.

Elsie Cooper

Elsie is one of the kindest students. She consistently works to include others. She holds the door for others every day. She advocates if others have a need and don’t speak up for themselves. Elsie promotes fairness and inclusivity throughout the school day. She shows patience and leadership in her role as a Junior Recess Coach for younger students. She's active in choir and percussion club as part of the greater school community.

Ethan Alfonso

Ethan epitomizes kindness. He is kind and accepting of everyone surrounding him. Ethan intuitively supports the individual needs of those around him.  If someone is upset or a conflict arises, he is a calm influence and helps teachers understand what may be happening and works toward a solution that values the needs of all involved. Ethan always seeks understanding of circumstances impacting students and advocates for others' needs.

Francisco Balderas Romero

Francisco is patient, helpful, works hard, and is a leader in the classroom. He is respectful to teachers and classmates and always comes to school ready to learn. He perseveres through hardship and always has a smile on his face. Francisco goes out of his way to welcome and include everyone in and out of the classroom. Francisco’s warm and kind presence at Woodmoor makes a positive impact on students and staff alike.  Francisco is someone they trust and has made a real difference here.

Gian Hurtado Martinez

Gian is an outstanding person and student. He particularly shines in how empathetic and helpful he is to other students. He is such a positive leader and sets a great example of how to be respectful, hardworking, and responsible at school. He is well liked by peers and can work well with anyone. He is curious and caring and deserves to be recognized for all that he does everyday.

Gigi Cabe

Gigi is a student dedicated to acceptance and inclusion of everyone at Wellington. Gigi demonstrates her dedication to all Wellington students during recess and in the classroom by exemplifying collaboration and acceptance. Gigi goes out of her way to advocate for herself and peers, lend her voice to help others and to reach understanding of differences and works hard to create a sense of belonging with everyone. Gigi is kind, compassionate and a leader. Gigi exemplifies the Wellington Way of being Respectful, Responsible and Safe.

Grace Hertzig

Grace consistently demonstrates kindness and care towards her peers, creating a positive classroom environment. She is never judgmental and always the first to offer a helping hand or a comforting word, showcasing her supportive character. Her hardworking nature is evident in her dedication to completing assignments and participating in class discussions. Grace is also a member of our student JEDI - Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion - club and has helped transform the student body into a community that recognizes and corrects injustice, is inclusive, and honors the humanity in each child.

Hannah Skaugset

Hannah has brought her positive and inclusive attitude to ATI for the past 3.5 years. She advocates for herself and others with the utmost respect for all individuals, and does her best to include her peers in conversations and group activities. She not only accepts, but celebrates others and the diversity each individual brings to the world. Hannah is always willing to help others and prides herself on making others feel welcome, contributing greatly to the sense of community in our program.

Hazel Colver

Hazel demonstrates a remarkable ability to advocate for others and serve as a role model for peers. They fearlessly engage in uncomfortable conversations that  are crucial for progress and understanding. Hazel plays pivotal roles in GSA and the Student Justice Collective. Hazel dedicates themselves to ensuring that all voices are heard and initiatives aimed at uplifting marginalized students are amplified. Hazel's dedication, passion, and commitment to making a positive impact are truly commendable. Their leadership extends far beyond the confines of our school.

Henry Mathieson

Henry has shown tremendous empathy and leadership in fostering a positive and inclusive environment at ILHS. Henry has an exceptional ability to ensure that every voice is heard. He actively encourages participation and ensures that every students' opinion is considered. This deep level of care and consideration for others highlights his unwavering dedication to promoting the strengths and identities of his peers. His proactive approach to advocating for others demonstrates his genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Ileesha Kushmi

Ileesha is a kind and inclusive Skyview Eagle who always goes above and beyond both inside and outside the classroom. She has a humble disposition and always shows a willingness to serve others. She works to create community in the classroom and include all students. Ileesha serves the community as a WEB leader and a National Junior Honor Society officer after achieving recognition all three years. Ileesha radiates kindness to all others and promotes the good of the community above all.

Jayden Pais

Jayden was brand new to Woodin this year as a fifth grader and has fit right in. He is a student who has a strong sense of helpfulness and advocacy for his peers. His ability to connect with younger students is commendable, as he often takes the initiative to support and guide them, showing his caring nature and leadership skills.  When asked to help his classmates, teachers, he shows up enthusiastically and without hesitation. He has been a joy to teach and watch flourish, we are so glad he joined us!

Jordan Rich

Jordan has always been a leader with the ability to collaborate and include students in all his classes. He loves sports, and he is always including new students or those who might not know how to join in. He is thoughtful, kind, and respectful, and he is always surrounded with students who want to be with him. Jordan always has a smile and keeps a positive attitude. He is a beam of light, which makes working with him an enjoyable experience for peers and staff.

Jovie Olson

Jovie embodies the humanitarian spirit through her kindness, inclusivity, and selflessness. As a dedicated and compassionate student at Cottage Lake Elementary, she goes above and beyond to ensure that all students feel valued and included. Jovie is patient, hardworking, and always advocates for others, anticipating their needs and offering support with empathy. Her joyful and collaborative nature makes her a leader by example, inspiring those around her. We are lucky to have such an incredible humanitarian at Cottage Lake Elementary.

Julieta Ortiz Montenegro

Julieta is a role model student leader who actively supports her peers through service and relationships. Julieta has mentored and supported Spanish speaking peers, new students and students needing more help in literacy. She has presented to help educate leaders about the student experience and to be a model of our school's vision where each student can learn, lead and belong. Julieta is a friendly student always ready to advocate for the inclusion of all peers and building connection.

Kantu Garcia

Kantu joined a video club this year and is constantly modeling what it looks like to be a outstander. She helps others learn their lines, and reminds them to be brave from behind the camera. Kantu is a student who goes above and beyond to make sure the people she is around feel included and welcome. She works hard to give back to her Woodin community and is a leader in the classroom and out.

Kate Pilgrim

Kate is an amazing human with a huge heart and a great spirit. She sees things that others do not and does not wait to be asked to help; she does. One is example is when she had her WEB group on the first day of school and she experienced some challenging behaviors, but Kate persisted, redirected, and gave choices to the student involved. She strived to have the student have an excellent first day at CPMS.

Kathleen Gonzalez

Kathleen is a dedicated leader who advocates for equity, kindness, and inclusion at SAS. She leads by example, taking pride in her work and always striving to support those around her. Known for her dependability, she is a trusted peer who uplifts others through her actions and words. Kathleen extends her compassion to the community by volunteering—knitting scarves for a women’s shelter. Through her generosity and dedication, she creates a lasting impact on those around her.

Keaton Frazier

One of Keaton’s outstanding qualities is his inclusivity. When working with partners or listening to others' ideas, he fosters a positive and encouraging environment by complimenting students and letting students share their ideas freely, while also adding onto those ideas. Keaton also welcomes students freely into his learning groups. He is willing to accept students easily, and make them feel heard throughout. His open-mindedness and willingness to embrace others' ideas make him a true advocate for community spirit.

Kenji Ohashi

Kenji consistently models acceptance of his peers, builds community, and advocates for those with the quietest voices. He recognizes the strengths and needs of his peers. His words and behavior make students in class feel included. Kenji works hard to ensure that there is a strong feeling of belonging for everyone in the community. Kenji advocates for his peers and stands up for equitable opportunities for his classmates. Kenji has the keen sense to care for those who might be marginalized.

London Brookes

London is always the first person to step up to support others, be a voice for others, and give wherever giving is needed. She is one of the most inclusive and positive students, and will always champion the phrase “You can do hard things,” and sets that example. Her first concern is always others, and then herself second.  London has consistently promoted collaboration and teamwork, fostering an environment where fairness and freedom of expression thrive. She ensures that everyone's voice is heard and valued.

Luke Lass

Luke is a dedicated student, who has overcome obstacles to achieve academic excellence. He humbly advocates for himself and others. He is a member of Northshore School District’s Student Council and uses his voice to speak up for students at Northshore Networks. He has worked to establish an ASB at NN so that all students can feel represented and have the same opportunities as others in the district.

Maddie Au

Maddie is an incredible student and friend. She is confident and dedicated to being a good friend and an upstanding person.  She is very honest, fair, and responsible.  She includes all students and seeks out new students to give them a chance to shine.   Students feel drawn to her, and she's such a kind and fun student to be around.  Maddie regularly goes out of her way to help others and is a true leader in our school.

Madison Olsen

Madison is a loyal friend and an advocate for all learners at Wellington. She is a prime example of compassionate understanding and kindness, to not only friends but to everyone she meets. Madison is a leader; not only does she advocate for others, but students are drawn to her because she makes them feel safe and comfortable. Students and staff believe that Wellington is a better place because of her ability to include everyone and be a role model to all.

Maleik Elliot Swenson

Maleik is an outstanding leader and role model on our campus. He has a calm and positive presence that other students enjoy being around. Teachers note that he works well with others and helps promote positive interactions among students. He is quick to say thank you or give positive feedback to staff and students. Several times this year, Maleik has stepped in and defused a tense situation at lunch involving his peers. He shows others how to be through how he conducts himself every day.

Marcos Rodriguez

Marcos is a kind and helpful member of our school community who goes out of his way to help others. Marcos is an observant student who notices when the people around him are sad and is quick to offer comfort. He enjoys being helpful and loves to volunteer his time to work with animals and help clean the classroom. Marcos recognizes the talents and contributions of others and offers praise and guidance. We are lucky to have Marcos at Pathways.

Marissa Hamasaki

Marissa has supported Kindergarten students in PE Pals for two years, showing respect for students, peers, and adults. She consistently displays kindness and thoughtfulness, advocating for others since her own Kindergarten year. Marissa follows the rules, sets a positive example, and demonstrates patience and a willingness to help those in need. Her dedication to fostering a supportive environment makes her a valuable asset to her classmates and the school community.

Max Mickelberry

Max shows up each day with a smile on his face and an excitement to learn. He is kind to others, going out of his way to include students who are feeling left or are excluded by others. Max shows leadership when his friends are being unkind or off task, helping them to refocus and remember their empathy. What truly sets Max apart is his natural sense of leadership and emotional intelligence. When his classmates are off task or behaving unkindly, Max doesn’t hesitate to step up.

Maylee Nisperos

Since she started Kindergarten at Moorlands, Maylee has embodied many of the traits of a true humanitarian. She exudes kindness to everyone. Her quiet, empathetic personality and sunny smile brighten up everyone's day. She ensures everyone feels like they belong, and after meeting Maylee once, you know you matter. Her strong morals and values never waver, and she is a role model without trying to be one. Our world needs more quiet leaders like Maylee.

Melika Rashidi

Melika has made a noticeable impact since joining the Arrowhead community earlier this year. She is dedicated and thorough when it comes to completing her assignments. Melika is observant and thoughtful both in and out of the classroom. She pays attention to those around her and never hesitates to offer her help or support. Her kindness is consistent, and something her peers know they can rely on during difficult times. We are so thankful to have Melika as part of Arrowhead!

Mikayla Wahba

Mikayla promotes unity and fosters a sense of belonging for everyone at Skyview Middle School. Mikayla notices the struggles of others around her, and unasked, offers to help. She is attentive and inclusive of those who are less-able-bodied, and encourages them to help themselves to supplies and methods. She stays after class every day to help clean up and serves as a WEB leader. Mikayla is always cheerful and works well with everyone, finding creative ways to be helpful and make others feel included.

  • Hollywood Hill
Nic Atkinson

Nic is a kind, funny student who is always ready to learn. He includes everyone, whether he is playing a game or working in a group. He is always looking for ways to be helpful, without ever seeking a reward. Nic shows integrity and cares deeply about making the right choices. He is a role model, not only in how he treats others, but also for how he approaches challenges. We are lucky to have him in our class!

Olivia Miller

Olivia looks out for the wellbeing of others- from the primary students she assists at recess and in the bus line; to her classmates whom she empathetically supports, both academically and socially; to the educators whom she will happily offer assistance or problem solving suggestions to. Olivia is attuned to the needs of her community. Her intelligence and heart enlighten the people around her and brighten the places she chooses to inhabit.

Otitochi Ohiri

The first thing that comes to mind about this exceptional young man is his remarkable growth and development over the past three years. Otitochi has emerged as an outstanding leader, showcasing his skills through his involvement in our Black Student Union and efforts to empower future leaders. His contagious laughter and smile embody the qualities of a great human being, consistently supporting friends and community. He demonstrates selflessness and willingness to do more, partnering with other schools and organizations to promote educational justice and equity.

Ricardo Valencia-Tomas

Ricardo is a quiet yet impactful leader at Secondary Academy for Success, where he fosters community and kindness. As a leader in the school’s music program, he encourages collaboration and inclusivity among his peers. Beyond SAS, he is a talented athlete, competing in varsity golf and varsity diving at BHS. He also works as a lifeguard in the NSD area, demonstrating responsibility and dedication. Ricardo’s actions inspire those around him, making his school and community a better place.

Ronya Augustine

Ronya is a leader in the classroom and in the school community. As a fifth grader in a 4th/5th grade split, she not only treats all students with respect, but also models what being a good listener and curious learner looks like. Rowan Dillaway

Rowan is an outstanding student and member of our community. She is an exceptionally hard worker, relentlessly positive and considerate of the needs of others. She has a way of bringing her classmates around a common goal. Rowan also gives her personal time volunteering with a number of causes in our community, including removing invasive Himalayan blackberries, preparing items with Goodwill with a Moorlands teacher's second grade classroom, and working at a Gingerbread village event to support research and awareness about Type One Diabetes.

Ryan is an exceptionally positive and kind student whose conscientious nature and attention to detail truly set him apart. He has been remarkably welcoming and supportive of the WEB students, consistently looking out for their needs. In class, Ryan offers outstanding assistance to his peers who are struggling, demonstrating his commitment to helping others succeed. His willingness to go above and beyond makes a significant impact on those around him.

Sam is an accepting, inclusive student and we can always count on him to be a peer helper. When a new Kindergartner arrived with limited English, Sam stepped up as a patient translator and encouraging friend. His calm, mature demeanor makes him a reliable problem solver and trusted peer. Sam’s actions reflect empathy, leadership, and a strong sense of community that positively impacts our school.

Santiago Ponce Morfin

Santi creates a welcoming environment for all classmates and appreciates their unique abilities. He enjoys including everyone in play, showing kindness, and offering help whenever needed. Santi enjoys sharing things about his family with other using his photo album. He is happy having a classroom job and teaching his peers. Santi is always smiling and singing which lifts both his peer and teachers throughout the day!

Scarlett Capps exemplifies kindness and compassion, making her an invaluable member of our community. As an outstanding WEB Leader and Peer Coach, she consistently supports her peers and embodies Timbercrest's pillars of respect, responsibility, and inclusivity. Scarlett is polite, caring not only for her own learning but also for that of others. She leads by example, serving as a role model for her peers. As a dedicated student-athlete and leader, Scarlett gives her best in all her endeavors, positively impacting those around her.

Shamsa is honest and kind. She is always cheerful and helpful to those around her. She tries to be the best she can be at all times and is always polite and respectful to others. As a result, she is well-liked by her peers and respected by faculty members. She does very well with her academics because of her efforts. Shamsa is a humanitarian in all senses and we are proud to have her as a student here at BHS.

Sophie Bagley

Sophie transferred here as a sophomore from Arizona and quickly found her place, joining ASB in her junior year. She played a key role in welcoming new students through the “transfer student” orientation and is known for her warm, inclusive nature. Sophie is creative and kind-hearted, she naturally connects with those who are new or on the fringes. She’s also involved in various clubs and charitable efforts, reflecting her generous spirit and positive energy. Sophie is truly an asset to our school community.

Tejashri (Teju) is an exceptional student. She fosters community and collaboration among her classmates and across grade levels, offering help to those in need, even if she doesn't know them well. Teju advocates for her peers who may hesitate to ask for support from teachers, showcasing her leadership qualities. As a role model, she inspires others and consistently strives to make a positive impact in both school and her community. Her kindness and dedication truly set her apart.

During Wayne's tenure at Woodmoor, he has been a friend and advocate for all students, especially our FSA learners. Wayne's consistent acceptance and friendship with other students has made a difference in our Woodmoor community. He is patient, relatable, and makes sure all students are included. He is kind, encouraging, and thoughtful. He is always smiling and willing to help with anything needed at recess. He includes others in games and plays fairly with a great attitude.

Willow Dillaway

Willow is an amazing seventh grader who consistently builds up those around her and creates community without expectation of reward or recognition. Her quiet, constant leadership is shown in her kind acceptance and inclusivity for all and is done with grace. Respect is the foundation of her character in interactions towards staff, students and friends and always comes with a smile on her face and kind words!  She demonstrates this through her advocacy for students with Type 1 Diabetes and her support of her peers.

Winry King

Winry exemplifies the true spirit of a humanitarian through her kindness, empathy, and selflessness. She consistently prioritizes the well-being of others, offering comfort, assistance, and inclusion to her peers. Whether giving up her spot in line, addressing concerns, or stepping in to support a struggling student, she does so with compassion and grace. Her ability to balance learning while intuitively recognizing and responding to the needs of others is truly remarkable. Winry’s empathy and generosity make her an outstanding role model.

Zahra Naqvi

Zahra is a natural leader who brings people together and encourages teamwork in the classroom. As a student council member, she works well with all of her peers. She always makes an effort to recognize and celebrate the successes of others, making everyone feel appreciated. Her positive attitude creates a welcoming environment where all students feel included and her leadership and kindness inspire those around her every day.
