Summer School Program Expectations - ALL STUDENTS MUST READ

Summer School is an opportunity for secondary students to strengthen skills, retrieve credit and build flexibility into their schedules. High school students can earn .5 or 1.0 credit (course dependent) per class in approximately six weeks. Students must make a serious commitment to the experience in order to successfully complete the requirements. The following list of policies and regulations ensure an optimal learning environment that protects the safety and rights of all students.

Attendance and Tardies

Students must attend every day of Summer School. Northshore School District requires 90 “Content” hours for every .5 credit and 45 hours for credit retrieval. More than two (2) absences may result in loss of credit and an “NC” on your transcript. Students must arrive on time to class. Three tardies equal one absence. Excessive tardies that equal two (2) absences may result in loss of credit.

Withdrawals and Refunds

  • If a student must withdraw from a class, it must be done within the first 3 days of summer school in order to not receive an “NC” on your transcript. Please communicate withdrawal information to ssummerschool@nsd.org.
  • No refunds will be issued after JUNE 15th.

General Regulations

  • Students shall wear clothing that is appropriate. Clothing with print or pictures that involve drugs, tobacco, sex, or improper language will not be permitted at Summer Academy.
  • Inappropriate, rude, or disrespectful language is unacceptable.
  • All students will be present online during class time.
  • If a student is caught cheating on a class assignment or exam, the student will receive a failing grade for that assignment or exam. Make-up or retake is not permitted. A student caught helping another student cheat will follow the district policy.
  • Audio systems (e.g. but not limited to headphones, iPods, cell phones, pagers, etc.) are not allowed during class time.
  • In addition to the regulations listed above, students are expected to comply with the teachers’ class rules and the Northshore Handbook of Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Student discipline involving “exceptional misconduct” as listed in the Northshore Handbook of Rights and Responsibilities will be cause for removal without credit or refund of tuition.

Out of District Students

  • Report Cards or transcripts will be emailed to the email address provided.
