Decision Process for Moving Between Stages

Strongly recommend distance learning with the option for limited in-person learning in small groups, of cohorts, for the highest need students, such as students with disabilities, students living homeless, those farthest from educational justice, and younger learners.

Once the Northshore School District service area reaches target cases per 100k in prior 2 weeks, maintains that target and trajectory for 1-2 weeks, and all other requirements are met, the District will move to the next highest stage. Considerations that will affect stage changes may include:

• Staff risk status
• Health of students and staff
• Available building space to maintain Department of Health recommendations
• The 14-day case rate per 100,000
• The trend in percent of COVID-19 tests that are positive
• The trend in new cases of COVID-19 by day
• The trend in hospitalizations because of COVID-19
• Availability of testing with timely results
• Available PPE
• ICU headroom used

Recommend distance learning as described above. In addition, consider expanding in person learning to elementary students. Over time, consider adding hybrid in person learning for middle or high school students if limited COVID transmission occurs in schools.
