My name is Dr. Eric McDowell and I am excited to begin my second year as your planning principal here at North Creek High School. I’m even more excited to be the Principal of North Creek when we open in the fall of 2017.

North Creek High School will continue the tradition of excellence that is found here in the Northshore School District. As a comprehensive high school, we will offer rigorous Advanced Placement (AP) and College in the High School courses in many areas including English, Math, Science and Social Studies. We will offer Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) courses that focus on both engineering and biomedical science (and the engineering courses may include aerospace engineering). We will have many and various elective programs including 2D and 3D art programs, band, orchestra, choir, drama and leadership. We will offer five World Languages including American Sign Language (ASL), French, German, Japanese and Spanish.

Importantly, North Creek High School will provide supports to all students so that each and every one of them can reach their potential and beyond. Our faculty and staff will work together to provide social and emotional supports to students so that each and every student is known well by at least one caring adult at North Creek. We will work to provide additional academic supports so that all students can succeed in high level, rigorous courses. High expectations with high levels of support is how North Creek will make sure that 100% of our graduates are career and college ready.

Additionally, North Creek will field both Varsity and sub-Varsity teams in 22 different sports beginning in the fall of 2017 when we open. We have been approved to open as a 4A school in the KingCo league and will compete with all the other comprehensive high schools in Northshore as well as other KingCo schools. I am confident our teams will be competitive from the very beginning because we have great students and families coming to North Creek. We will also have many different clubs and activities in which students can get involved.

Our projections currently show that students at North Creek will speak over 36 different languages in addition to English and will come from over 19 different race/ethnic groups. This diversity is a cornerstone for our school community and we will work diligently to make sure that each and every student and family member feels not only welcomed and respected but also valued for their culture and traditions.

Moreover, our projections show that students will be coming from eight different Northshore schools, including both Bothell and Woodinville high schools and Canyon Park, Kenmore, Leota, Northshore, Skyview and Timbercrest junior highs. Creating, establishing and nurturing a new North Creek community will be our top priority and we will spend significant time in the fall of 2017 helping all our students get to know each other and feel proud to be Jaguars!

In closing, I want to again say “Welcome to North Creek High School” and I can assure you that over the course of this year and next, I and my staff will be doing everything we can to make the transitions to our new school as easy as possible. Please don’t hesitate to contact us!

    Go Jaguars!
