Introducing Frank Love's New Principal, Katy French
June 3, 2016
To the Students at Frank Love,
Hello, my name is Mrs. French and I will be your new principal starting next school year. I am super excited to meet you and can’t wait to get to know you. I love being a principal because I love to watch students put forth effort to learn and grow their skills. Isn’t if fun when you’ve worked really hard to learn something and you finally “get it”? Two things you should know about me is that I am a mom to a beautiful and fun six month old daughter named Malia and I love dogs! Malia is my first child and I am having so much fun being a mom and watching her grow and learn. Dakota is my Golden Retriever and she is the
best dog ever! As we get to know each other, I’ll share stories about Malia and Dakota with you.
It’s important for me to get to know you so when we meet each other, I hope that you will share with me something special about you. I try very hard to learn every student’s name so I hope you will help me out be introducing yourself to me every time you see me for the first months of school. It’s going to be tough to learn all 700+ students’ names but I like a good challenge!
I hope you have a great summer! I hope you will continue read and write and solve interesting problems throughout the summer. I can’t wait to meet you!

Dear Frank Love Families,
I am thrilled to write this letter of introduction as the newly selected Principal of Frank Love Elementary School for the 2016-2017 school year. Working with elementary aged children and supporting teachers to do their best work is a great passion of mine and I’m very happy to have to opportunity to join the Frank Love community to do this important work. I look forward to partnering with you to provide students with a rigorous, engaging, and high-quality school
The past four years I have served as an elementary school principal in the Edmonds SchoolDistrict. Prior to being a principal, I served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles over the past 20 years, all in the Northshore School District. I have been a primary and intermediate classroom teacher, a Title 1 Reading Specialist, and a literacy/instructional coach.
In fact, my first teaching position right out of college was at Frank Love as a 5th grade teacher! It feels wonderful to be coming back to where I first started my career. In all of my roles, I’ve worked to ensure children receive the best quality education in a safe and joyful environment. Families are every child’s first teacher and I believe that by working together, we can make sure your child’s social, emotional, and academic needs are met. This means that a strong homeschool
connection is important for the academic, social, emotional and behavioral success ofour students. I am committed to partnering with you and look forward to meeting you.
