Updated Testing Guidelines
On August 11, the CDC revised its recommendations for screen testing. Screen testing or batch testing is no longer a recommendation for asymptomatic individuals (individuals without COVID-19 symptoms). In response, the Northshore School District will end its universal batch testing program. When community levels are high, the District in consultation with our Public Health agencies may use screen testing in certain high-risk activities such as band, choir, theater, and close contact indoor sports to mitigate outbreaks and preserve in-person learning.
We will be transitioning our testing to focus on outbreaks and encouraging students, families, and staff to test as needed. Thousands of home test kits have been secured through our partnership with Health Commons and funded by the Department of Health. These kits will be distributed to schools so that we are prepared to respond to increases in COVID-19 and suspected or confirmed school transmission.
Individuals are encouraged to test if you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive.
- Keep a supply of home tests on hand.
- You may get free home tests from the State of Washington. Tests can be ordered monthly.
