I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding over the past 48 hours as we have worked to resolve the threats this week. This evening, I spoke with the Bothell Police Department about the original threat, which was specific to this afternoon, and a later threat of an incendiary device. Our school administrators have been investigating these threats in partnership with law enforcement and Northshore’s Safety and Security team. In addition, multiple law enforcement agencies completed a full sweep of the Bothell High School campus that resulted in no weapons or incendiary devices.
In collaboration with law enforcement, we believe it is safe to re-open school tomorrow, Dec. 3 as we had planned. Students and staff will be back in person on block schedule 1, 3, 5, and 7. Out of an abundance of caution and at my request, the Bothell Police Department has committed to having an increased presence on campus throughout the day. Also, those issues underlying the original threat are continuing to be investigated by the Bothell Police and school administrators.
We continue to remind families and students that if you see something, say something. We are stronger together.
Michelle Reid, Ed.D.
