Weekly Update from Interim Superintendent Michael Tolley: July 18, 2022

I hope you're finding time to rest and rejuvenate this summer. While July is often a quieter time on many of our school campuses, there are many staff working hard behind the scenes to prepare for the first day of school and return of students on Aug. 31.

In addition to the scheduled deep cleaning of schools, Support Services staff are assisting 147 teachers as they move into new classrooms and teaching spaces. Warehouse staff are busy preparing for implementation of the new K-5 literacy curriculum, Into Reading, by picking up surplus books and distributing new resources to all elementary schools. Our Grounds team is planning for the annual Community Serve Day, supporting 24 school sites in August, and also assisting our Capital teams in the replacement of fields at Arrowhead, Lockwood, and Woodmoor.

The Capital team is also managing smaller projects at numerous schools including mechanical system and fire alarm upgrades, carpet replacement, and installation of a new roof at Cottage Lake Elementary. District wide we also have fencing and camera installation projects taking place to enhance school safety and security.

In partnership,

Michael Tolley
Interim Superintendent
