Curriculum Materials Adoption Committee (CMAC)
The Curriculum Materials Adoption Committee (CMAC) has responsibility for ensuring that the selection of appropriate instructional materials for Northshore School District students is conducted in a professional manner by a deliberative body of teachers, administrators, and parent/community members. The committee is comprised of:
Administrative and community members are appointed by the Superintendent, while certificated members are selected by the Northshore Education Association (NSEA) president. Committee members serve a term of three years.
- Two community members
- Two Administrators (to include at least one principal)
- One (1) primary elementary teacher
- One (1) intermediate elementary teacher
- One (1) junior high teacher
- One (1) high school teacher
- One (1) special education teacher
- One (1) specialist (e.g., art, music)
- One (1) librarian
CMAC members must be committed to meeting applicable state and federal laws and regulations, as well as the stated learning goals and standards of the state and district. Members must be willing to attend all monthly committee meetings, preparing for meetings by reading all documents submitted by sponsor groups. In addition, CMAC members will review materials submitted for consideration, completing reviewer forms within established timelines. The committee makes recommendations for approval of core and supplementary materials to the Northshore School Board, following the process established in School Board Policy 2020
