Head Start

Head Start helps children get ready for school. Our program at Kenmore Elementary is a FREE, part day pre school program for 3 and 4 year olds. To qualify, your family must meet income guidelines. Some highlights of our programs include:

• Fun learning activities
• Family involvement
• Health screenings
• Nutritious meals
• Home visits
• Family Support Services
• Parent Education

Child Development
The heart of our program is the classroom and our services for children. Children participate in age-appropriate learning activities in all areas of development. They receive nutritious meals, screenings and needed follow-up. Our classroom has skilled and trained teachers who work with parents to design individual learning plans for each child.

Family Support
Our program knows that parents are every child's first teacher and we believe in the strength of the family. Staff provide support services so that each family can achieve and grow in the ways they choose. We offer referrals, advocacy, parent training and leadership opportunities.

Child Health and Nutrition
Children who are healthy are able to learn and grow. We help parents keep on track with immunizations and exams. Children learn good health habits and receive healthy meals and snacks. Parents receive health education to help them keep their family well.

If you would like to speak with someone about our program, please call. Interpreters are available. Feel free to leave a message in your home language. Applications are also available in the Kenmore Elementary school office.
