Consulting teachers are sensitive to students' learning styles, and they are skilled at providing innovative lessons to foster critical thinking. Authentic learning experiences are an integral part of weekly lessons. During the initial meetings the teacher, parent and student, prepare a Homeschool Educational Plan (HEP). This individualized plan includes curriculum that will meet our district Standards. It is subject to change when deemed necessary by the participants. Consulting teachers are able to provide all of the textbooks and materials needed to enhance the Homeschool Educational Plan that is formulated during consultations.

There are two consulting models available at this time:

  • full-time consulting, which consists of either
    • weekly one-hour meetings with 2 hours or fewer of our on-campus classroom learning sessions each week;
    • biweekly meetings with more than 2 hours per week of our on-campus classroom learning sessions;
  • the MCO model (available to K-8th grade students only), which requires participation in the on-campus classroom learning sessions and allows families to meet on a monthly basis while retaining their home-based status.

High school credit is available through the full-time consultation model beginning at grade nine. Students may choose pass/fail or letter grades that will be recorded on a District transcript. A high school diploma can be earned through this program. For more specific information about consulting, call the WA Anderson office at (425) 408-4175.
