Swine Flu:
The district H1N1 web information was updated on March 26.  If your school site provides a link directly to the district page, you will not need to do anything.  However, if you posted the information directly to your school web page, you will need to update it with the information below.  The information is a reminder that low levels of H1N1 persist in our community and to please continue prevention strategies and illness guidance.  There is plenty of vaccine for everyone, and all persons ages 6 months and older are recommended for vaccination.  Children ages 9 and under require two vaccines at least 28 days apart.

H1N1 Influenza (Swine flu) Updates: Posted 3/26/10 - Northshore schools are experiencing less illness-related absences. However, the local health departments still advise that if your child has the flu, it is likely H1N1 influenza.  Please practice thorough hand washing, cover your cough and stay home until any fever is gone for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicines.  The school district does not require a doctor's note for students to return to school after they are well again.

Everyone six months of age and older is now eligible to receive the H1N1 influenza vaccine. Plenty of vaccine is available.  Contact your health care provider or check the King County or Snohomish county Public Health Web site for the list of participating pharmacies and other clinics providing free shots for those unable to pay.  Remember: Children 9 years and younger will need two doses spaced at least 28 days apart.
Please see the Northshore School District website for current district information on Swine Flu/prevention tips. (click here)   A current Swine Flu letter is available below.  Any additional information will be on the district webpage.  (click here)   Here is the information in Spanish - Datos sobre la gripe porcina (click here).   View our School Nurse's website.

Deliveries for Students
Our administrative and counseling staff is always willing to deliver messages to students regarding family emergencies such as deaths, accidents, or severe illnesses. Other than these emergency situations, however, we are unable to deliver forgotten items, notes, flowers, balloons, or reminders to students for any other reason.  Not only are the logistics of delivering messages and gifts a challenge in a school our size and the interruptions to class a detriment to the learning environment, there are also serious potential safety and security issues involved in delivering unverified information/packaging to our students.  Please be certain that your son or daughter is aware, before coming to school, of any appointments for that day. It is a great lesson in personal responsibility for them and helps us to maintain a safe and productive educational environment for all of our students.
