Our school serves students with special needs and Ready Start students three to five years of age. Sorenson is a caring place where all children are encouraged to learn through experiences that provide for their developmental needs-physical, social, emotional, communication and intellectual. Our goal is to nurture in our children a love and excitement for life and learning and to equip them with the skills and confidence they will need to be successful.

The Sorenson staff believes that we can best assist our students by working closely with parents to provide the most effective learning environment. We are happy to be able to present activities that promote family involvement and ongoing communications with school. We also believe that all children should have many opportunities to engage with their peers. We strive to provide our special needs students with daily opportunities to be with their typically developing peers in fun, age appropr iate learning activities.

We thank our parents for allowing us the opportunity to work with them as partners in their child's early education. We also thank the community for their support. Together we can lay the groundwork to encourage our students to become lifelong learners.

MARCH 2010 H1N1 Influenza (Swine flu) UPDATES
Posted 3/26/10 - Northshore schools are experiencing less illness-related absences. However, the local health departments still advise that if your child has the flu, it is likely H1N1 influenza.  Please practice thorough hand washing, cover your cough and stay home until any fever is gone for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicines.  The school district does not require a doctor's note for students to return to school after they are well again.

Everyone six months of age and older is now eligible to receive the H1N1 influenza vaccine. Plenty of vaccine is available.  Contact your health care provider or check the King County or Snohomish county Public Health Web site for the list of participating pharmacies and other clinics providing free shots for those unable to pay.  Remember: Children 9 years and younger will need two doses spaced at least 28 days apart.
