Our 5th and 6th graders will be doing the math and reading sections of the test on-line. Both grades will have the opportunity to take a math and a reading tutorial.
5th grade science will still be done in a paper/pencil format, though there are some pilot schools who will be doing science on-line. 3rd and 4th grade students will do their respective assessments in a pencil/paper format.
If you would like to learn more about the on-line testing, please go to the following link: www.nsd.org/onlinetesting
Again, we want to strongly encourage you to not schedule appointments in May during the day, particularly the morning, as these will be the times when we will predominantly be testing. |
Students in grades 3-6 will be taking the state MSP in May. Here is a link to the state website for resources you may access for tools including sample passages, anchor sets, test, and item specifications. |

Update on Common Core Standards |
On July 20, 2011, the WA state Legislature formally adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Lanugage Arts and Math. These standards are focused on K-12 knowledge and skills "that students will need when they graduate, whatever their choice of college or career." The transition to these new standards from our current EALRs will occur over a two year period. In Northshore we have begun to integrate these new standards into our work such as correlating the CCSS with our new literacy adoption. On April 13, all staff in Northshore will begin to learn about and implement these standards and steps to beginning to incorporate the CCSS in our ongoing work.
If you would like more information about the standards and/or Washington's process of adopting these standards, please visit the OSPI website: http://www.k12.wa.us/Corestandards/default.aspx |
