H1N1 (Swine Flu) Update 11-16-09
The district web site has been updated with current information on vaccine availability in the community.
The focus remains on vaccinating those who are in the high risk group for flu complications. The district web update includes a link to information for families who have children at risk for flu complications who may have the flu. The health department is emphasizing that those children and adults who are at risk and who are ill should contact their health care provider right away. Our absentee rates at elementary have decreased over the past two weeks, but overall remain slightly higher than usual. Absence rates at secondary are stable, although somewhat higher than usual. Please continue to emphasize staying home when flu symptoms are present. King County public health has a new "you tube" video called "Stay Home When you are Sick". This short video explains that you do not know "who" is vulnerable in the public setting. http://www.kingcounty.gov/healthservices/health/preparedness/pandemicflu/swineflu.aspx
