Barnes & Noble Bookfair
This Inglemoor tradition will be held at the Woodinville Barnes & Noble on Sunday, December 6, from 9:00 am until 9:00pm. The event showcases our many talented student musicians who will perform throughout the day in solos, duets, and small groups. This year choral groups will also be performing. Proceeds from the bookfair will directly benefit Inglemoor music students by lowering the cost of their Spring trip to California.
Here are some ways that you can support this fundraiser:
- Plan to attend the bookfair on Dec 6! Bring your holiday shopping list - books and music make great gifts! Present a voucher or mention Inglemoor at the register, and Barnes & Noble will donate a percentage of purchases to our music programs. The greater the sales, the higher the percentage. Help us reach our $20,000 goal!
- Tell your family, friends, and co-workers! The attached voucher can be used at any Barnes & Noble location nationwide for a three-day period December 6 - 8. Email the voucher to family members in other cities! Pass out flyers/vouchers at work or at your Thanksgiving Holiday gathering. Flyers are available in the band and choir rooms and online under 'downloads'.
- Treat yourself to coffee or lunch at the cafe! Cafe sales apply to the bookfair, and students will be performing in the cafe area.
- Encourage your student to participate! In addition to performing, students can pass out flyers on Dec. 5 and 6, greet shoppers at the bookfair, or help at the gift-wrapping table. Sign up sheets are on the bulletin board in the hallway outside the band room.
- Adult volunteers are also needed! A volunteer is needed to coordinate the gift-wrapping station, and Michele could use some help with copying, coordinating student performers, and other tasks. Please contact Michele at michelecleonard@gmail.com if you can help.
- Donate ribbon! B & N provides the paper, but we need to supply ribbon for the gift-wrapping station. Solid colors are best, and ribbon or bows of any type are great. A collection box will be in the band room
Holiday Concert December 17
The holiday concert for band, orchestra, and choir students will be held in the Inglemoor Gym on Thursday evening, December 17. Watch for upcoming emails with more details, and cross your fingers for snow-free conditions!
Instrumental Retreat at Central Washington University
Orchestra and Wind Ensemble students should have brought home a permission form for you to sign for the retreat at Central Washington University on January 7-9. Chaperones are needed. If you can help, sign up on the permission form or contact the music directors.
Spring Trip to San Francisco Bay Area
Students in Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and choirs will have the opportunity to compete at the Heritage Festivals at Great America in Santa Clara, south of San Francisco. Students will leave on Thursday, May 27, and return on Sunday, May 30. Performances are scheduled for Friday, May 28. We expect the total cost of airfare, hotel, and bus transportation to be $600 or less, depending on the success of our fundraisers. Our travel coordinators are still working out the details, and will get more information to you as soon as possible. It is likely that a first payment will be due in December.
Orchestra/Choir Concert CD
It's not too late to order a CD from the fabulous orchestra and choir concert that was held on November 5. A two-CD set is only $10. Send a note to Mr Rice with the student's name, performing group, and phone number, along with a check payable to IHSIMB. CD's will be distributed in the next week or so during class.
