Online and Credit Retrieval Courses

Students who need to make up credits have the following options:

1. Adjust schedule for next year to retake the failed course. Contact your counselor to make a request:

Bryan McNiel , A-Fi, bmcniel@nsd.org
Gail Olson Laing , Fl-Le, golson@nsd.org
Loni Tighe , Li-Sa, lanthony@nsd.org
Jim Allen , Sb-Z, jallen2@nsd.org

2. Northshore School District's Summer Academy - Information regarding courses and registration is available online in May.

3. Northshore School District Secondary Credit Retrieval Program - This program is offered after school at Inglemoor for those students who previously failed a graduation requirement.  There is typically a session in fall (Nov.-Dec.) and another one in spring (March-April).  The courses last approximately 6 weeks and students can retrieve .5 credit.

4. Northwest Liberty School - This is a private school in Woodinville that offers credit retrieval and online course options. Typical credit retrieval courses cost $199 per .5 credit and regular online courses cost $249 per .5 credit.

5. BYU Independent Study - Brigham Young University offers online courses to high school students.  BYU wasn't an option for Northshore students at the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year but they were recently approved again as an online course provider by OSPI for their instructor-guided online courses. So, now Northshore students are allowed to take BYU instructor-guided online courses.  Do not enroll in any other online BYU courses.  Students complete the course online at their own pace.  Once the coursework is complete, the student must take a final exam proctored by an approved educator.  Contact your counselor for more information.  Instructor-guided online courses typically cost $232 per .5 credit.  Do not take Life Fitness or Health as they are not currently instructor-guided courses.
