Mission and Overview

We believe in the uniqueness and individual worth of every child and strive to help all children reach their highest developmental potential. We nurture in children a love for lifelong learning and value families as partners in education.

The preschool and kindergarten years are among the most critical ina child's life to influence learning. The Northshore School District is committed to providing the support that our youngest students need to prepare them to succeed later in school. The district offers a variety of Early Childhood Programs for children age three to five. In addition, the district contracts with Development Centers to provide services to children age birth to three who qualify for specially design instruction.

Birth to Three
Some young children show delays in their development. They may not speak or understand language. Some may be late in becoming mobile or may be clumsy. Other children are uncomfortable in social situations, or have behaviors that are to control. Other children have a difficult time learning colors, body parts, object names, etc. Still others have issues with eating and or delays in their self-help skills such as dressing or using utensils. Some children are hard of hearing or deaf and need a different kind of learning experience. There are early intervention services available near our Northshore community. The Northshore School District has contracts with three birth to three developmental centers and three programs that provide support and educational services to children who are deaf and hard of hearing. These centers provide evaluation, family support, and therapy services to children before they turn three. When children turn three and meet eligibility criteria, the school district provides a continuum of services.
