Can We Grow Our Children's Intelligence and Influence Our Perceptions of Intelligence?

Research now says that is exactly what we can do.  In the Article, "The Secret to Raising Smart Kids", the authors stress that we don't tell our children how smart they are, rather, how hard they work.  According to the article,  there are two views on intelligence; helpless (fixed mind-set) and mastery-oriented. Fixed mind-set views revolve around the idea that our intelligence is what we are born with.  Concerns for looking smart override a  a feeling of "learning from your mistakes.  On the other hand, the mastery- oriented view looks at intelligence as a growing state.  Failures are simply opportunities to learn.

In the second article, "You Can Grow Your Intellingence" the article focuses on new research on how you can train your brain for success, much like an athlete trains for competition.  Explanations and exercises to grow intelligence are included in this article.
