» Notes from the Nurse...
Welcome back Falcons! I hope everyone had a healthy and restful summer and that you are feeling ready to start the new year! In order to make things run smoothly, I have a couple of reminders for students and parents: 1. Anyone planning to keep medication with me over the 2009/2010 school year should be planning to have the Medication Authorization form filled out and sent to me before the first day of school for the new year. That form can be accessed from this website, or from the Health and Safety link on the Northshore School District website. 2. All Life Threatening Conditions that involve an anaphylactic reaction must have documentation and doctor's authorization to carry an Epi Pen on campus. If the reaction is listed as "Life Threatening" on the Health Registration form, the student must have an authorized Epi Pen on campus, or a letter from the doctor stating that the student does not require an Epi Pen. All Epi Pen authorizations must be renewed every school year. You may use the link for the Medication Authorization form below or download the form from the Northshore School District website and have it sent or brought back to the Health Room prior to the first day of school. 3. ALL IMMUNIZATIONS MUST BE UP TO DATE PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. If an immunization form is incomplete, the student will not be allowed to be at school until all records are updated. Please check the Washington State Department of Health website for current 2009/2010 updates. http://www.doh.wa.gov/cfh/Immunize/schools/default.htm Please call or email me with any questions or concerns.
INFLUENZA H1N1 UPDATE: The Influenza A (H1N1) information that we are receiving continues to change. We are still concerned about the presence and possible spread of this virus so will be doing our best to minimze exposure of healthy staff and students to those who may be ill with a flu virus. At this time we are asking parents to keep students home when they present with classic flu symptoms (headache, fever, body aches, fatigue, cough, sore throat). The CDC guidelines are asking people to remain out of school or work until symptoms resolve and the individual has been fever free for at least 24 hours. We need to be vigilant in keeping our children safe and healthy by observing the guidelines that determine when a student must be sent home. We are aware of parental concerns regarding attendance issues and will be working with students on a case by case basis to help support you. Our first priority, however, is to safeguard the health of all staff and students and to prevent the spread of Influenza A (H1N1) at WHS. The Northshore School District website now has a page dedicated to the most up-to-date information regarding the H1N1 virus. You may access this information under the "Health and Safety" page on the district website, from the "Useful Links" tab on this page, or by opening the attachment below.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. A Reminder About Medication:
If your student must receive prescribed or over-the-counter
medication from the nurse, you need to complete a medication authorization
form signed by your physician or dentist. Forms are available from the
nurse or in the front office. Medication must come to school in its
original pharmacy labeled container. Autorizacion Para Dar Medicamentos Other Forms: Información Acerca de la Enfermedad Meningococcal Meningitis | ||||
