Thank you for your interest in substitute employment within the Northshore School District! We are accepting applications for both classified and certificated substitutes, but are not adding to the certificated sub pool at this time. When we re-open the pool, we will draw from the applications submitted online. Just applying to the substitute pools does not automatically mean you have been hired.
We will contact you if your qualifications and interests match the needs of our substitute pool at any given time. Please be aware that the district's need for additions to the substitute pool fluctuates on an on-going basis. Please refer to the appropriate category below for more information.
Certificated Substitutes: The instructions for applying are the same as regular employment with the exception of the number of confidential reference forms required. For certificated substitute positions, two confidential forms should be downloaded and sent to your supervisory referrers. You must be certificated in the state of Washington in order to substitute for a certificated staff member. Click
here
for qualifications and additional information.
Classified Substitutes: The instructions for applying to the district are similar to the instructions for application for regular employment. To complete your application for the classified substitute pool, please also download and send out 2 confidential reference forms. Click

for qualifications and additional information.
Retirees: Northshore welcomes and recognizes the expertise and experience retired Northshore educators can bring to bear as substitute teachers. Retirees wishing to substitute teach will need to complete an on-line application. Please contact the Substitute Office at 408-7619 to request a retiree paperwork packet. Make sure you check the return to work guidelines within your particular retirement plan so you don't inadvertently jeopardize your benefits.
Interns: Interns may be asked to substitute for their master teacher. In order to accept this role, an intern must apply for the Intern Substitute Teacher certificate and complete hiring paperwork. Please contact Shantel Strandt in HR (408-7621 or sstrandt@nsd.org) to begin this process. An on-line application must be completed as part of this process. The hiring paperwork will be processed by the substitute office. Once this certificate has been issued, you will be entitled to teach in your master teacher's classroom only. |
